Dear <<First Name>>

December Dates for Examinations / Medals

Due to school events during the proposed ballet examination dates I have managed to change the dates as follows:-

Sunday 2nd December
Ballet Examinations - studio practice

Sunday 9th December
Ballet Examinations

Sunday 16th December
Freestyle Jazz / Tap Medals

Clyst Heath Hall Floor

During October 1/2 term the school floor is being repaired / resurfaced.
Saturday Junior Tap Classes

I am investing in a dance floor to lay on top of the floor so we can safely Tap on the floor on Saturdays.

NOW is a great time to join TAP as the classes are new and it's the easiest time to settle in - WHY NOT COME ALONG FOR A FREE TASTER SESSION AFTER BALLET? Message Jo if you'd like more information.

I am still missing loads of forms and have now resorted to sending forms home. PLEASE, PLEASE return the form ASAP. We are trying to set up a new software system that will benefit everyone but I need these forms updated first.

I have been gathering up 2nd hand skirts to resell for old students and now have 10 skirts available on a first come first served basis.  (There are 12 new students in grade 6.)

You do not have to buy a 2nd hand one and can download a booking form from the website here but please let me measure you.  They are better shorter than longer and at your age do not need anything added on!!!!

New ones are £38.95 but I am reselling the 2nd hand ones for ex-pupils for £15.00.  Please see Jo if you would like to try one on.

NEW FOR 2019 - please register your interest now....

We have put together a provisional timetable for the NEW classes which can be viewed here.

We are going to be offering some new opportunities in January:-
  • Junior Performance Squad - Age 7-11 years

  • Senior Performance Squad - Age 12 upwards

We envisage that children will already take ballet and/or Jazz plus one other genre class to join the squad. We will be working on performance technique, body conditioning and flexibility alongside material for performance later in the year.

As we know this will attract our keen students who already take multiple classes, we would like to try and make this as attractive and cost effective for pupils as possible.  We do however need the commitment and support to be able to offer these opportunities at a discounted rate. Therefore, in the first instance and hopefully moving forward if numbers are sufficient, we will be offering this at the discounted rate of £4 / session paid termly.

Please register your interest for the Performance Squad Classes HERE

  • Musical Theatre Class

These classes will support your dance education by developing acting and singing alongside your dance skills. Miss Charmaine will be working on a particular theme / script each term which will build into a small showcase performance later in the year.

Everyone welcome from age 6 upwards

Thursday 4.45-5.45pm - £5/session paid termly

All RAD and IDTA Examination Certificates / medals have now arrived and will be presented to the pupils at the end of their next class.  Please feel welcome to pop in and see the presentations.

Just a word regarding examinations:-
We are Registered, Qualified Teachers of The Royal Academy of Dance and International Dance Teachers' Association. We have undergone extensive training and have to comply with vigorous Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in order to retain our Teaching Status. The examinations that your children take at this school are Regulated by the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) in England. Further details can be found here for RAD and here for IDTA. The examinations also carry UCCAS points for university applications.

Please do not compare your children's results to unregistered, unqualified teachers who run their own unregulated examination sessions where they invite their friends / colleagues to act as an examiner! (As unbelievable as it may seem I've heard of this happening nearby.)

Don't forget alongside all our children's classes we have our Adult Classes

Friendly, fun and supportive environment - everyone welcome!
Adult Zumba
Monday 7-8pm at Clyst Heath

Adult Ballet
Friday 6.45-7.45pm at Clyst Heath

Adult classes are £5 pay as you go

Acrobatic Arts - coming soon!

We feel strongly at the school that teaching of dance should always be carried out by professional, qualified and  experienced personnel, where safety is of the uppermost importance. I have been considering introducing an ACRO class for some time and have enrolled on the next UK course which takes place April 2019.

Watch this space for news next year of a ACRO class starting in the summer term.
