New Term 2019

Dear <<First Name>>,

Please visit our Facebook Page regularly for updates and news.

Spring Term Dates and Timetable are here

A plea from Miss Jo...

Ballet leotards (Especially Primary, Grade 1, 2/3, 4/5)

If anyone has ballet leotards that they no longer require and are in a fairly good condition without any fraying / stains, I would gladly take them off your hands for exam day spares!!

Everytime we have ballet exams there are students that have leotards that are either too small or frayed / damaged due to wear and tear, but parents are understandably reluctant to buy new as they will need a different one for the next grade.

If I had a few good quality spares I could lend out it may help a lot of people. If you can help please send anything into me / mum.

Thank You

Welcome to the new term / year

I can't believe we're at the 5th week of term and fast approaching the 1/2 term break. We have welcomed some lovely new students to the school this term who have all settled in really well. We have a lot planned for the year so please do try and take a few minutes to read the 1/2 termly newsletters.

Our NEW CLASSES have been a great success and we aim to build on this throughout the year. We have had several enquiries regrading Acrobatic Arts which we will be offering later in the year. Miss Caroline is completing training this Easter and we will run some taster workshops in the summer term. (Due to a very full timetable for a lot of our students with all genres of examinations offered in the summer term we are planning to timetable the Acro classes from September.)

There will be some timetable changes in September as follows:-

Monday evening Tap classes will move to Tuesday evening between Jazz classes at St. Lawrence. This should help a lot of students who do both Tap and Jazz as they will have classes consecutively on the same evening.

Acrobatic Arts will be on a Monday evening 5-7pm. (Classes dependant on uptake and hopefully at Clyst Heath.)

Examination Results-December 2018

Huge well done to all students for the superb results across all genres. Excellent results from everyone.
  • BALLET EXAMINATION certificates and medals from the December exam session have arrived and will be presented to the children at the end of their classes this week. Parents are welcome to come and see their presentation.  Well done everyone - all Merits and Distinctions.
  • We are still waiting for Tap and Jazz certificates and medals and I suspect it will be after 1/2 term but I will keep you posted if they arrive before.

Examinations - Summer Term 2019

I am in the process of writing to parents of students who will be offered the opportunity to complete their ballet exam in the summer session. Coaching classes for these examinations will take place, (in addition to normal weekly classes) with Miss Jo, after Easter as follows:-

Primary    Friday at Newcourt Centre   (4.15-5.00pm)
Grade 1   Wednesday at Clyst Heath   (4.15-5.15pm)
Grade 4   Friday at Newcourt Centre   (5.15-6.15pm)
Grade 6   Friday at Newcourt Centre   (6.15-7.15pm)
Grade 7   Friday at Newcourt Centre   (7.15-8.15pm)

Please ensure if you receive an invitation for your child to take part that you return the form and payment by the date stated as late entries can not be submitted. (I would also appreciate knowing if your child is not taking part ASAP for administrative reasons and booking examination time. Thank you.)
  • TAP Examinations
  • JAZZ and POM DANCE Medals
Arrangements for these examinations and medal test will be confirmed after Easter but we hope they will take place early July.

Safety Concerns - dropping off children

Please can we remind parents that YOU are responsible for your children both before and after classes. We do not take care of them until they enter the dance studio / area and are registered with us. We do our upmost to ensure parents have arrived to pick up their children on time and always encourage the children to come back in if they can't find parents. However, there have been occasions lately where young children have been left unattended in the waiting areas before classes have started. Thank you for your support.

Everyone should have received a copy of their paper invoice as an email invoice for the current term. IF YOU DID NOT RECEIVE AN EMAIL INVOICE please let Jo know ASAP as this will be the only way that invoices will be sent out from now on. We have used all the information to build the database that you gave us on your Registration Forms that were all redone in line with Data Protection during 2018.
