ILC Board Sets Goals and Updates Mission Statement

At a recent board retreat, the ILC board updated the mission statement and set goals for 2017.  The new mission statement reads:

Iowa Lean Consortium aspires to be a national leader in promoting a culture of operational excellence by connecting our members through world-class learning and networking opportunities.

The board also agreed to focus on growing the consortium while seeking to better understand the needs of current members.  Watch for opportunities throughout 2017 to share your thoughts with the board and ILC teams.

We are seeking Events/Trainings for the
Member Shared Calendar

Is your company willing to open seats to other members during your in-house trainings and CI events?  If so please click the button below to tell us about your upcoming events.

We will put the event on the member only shared calendar.  Organizations typically hold 1-2 seats for ILC members and potential registrants will contact you directly - you will have final say in who attends.
Learn more about the member shared calendar here.

Gina Singer from Pella Corporation had this to say about their use of the member shared calendar

One benefit of offering training courses to ILC members we have seen at Pella Corporation is the diverse discussion that results from having a variety of people participate in the class.  It is easy to get stuck in our own organizations paradigms.  By having people in the room from various industries and roles in their organizations everyone learns more.   Since we are providing the training classes anyway, the extra work to have a few people from the ILC attend is minimal.

In this workshop the facilitators will highlight the historical and theoretical roots of Agile. Agile is characterized by the division of tasks into short phases of work and frequent reassessment and adaption of plans.   The session will then dig down into the most popular Agile methods and how they work. Agile’s values & principles work because of the science behind Lean and so you’ll see similar themes repeated in Agile.

Participants will have the opportunity to experience Scrum at a high level. Scrum is a simple (team-based) process that works well for any complex, innovative scope of work. Kanban, which employs visualization and "work in progress" limits, will also be explored.
