Coaching Leadership for a Lean Culture Transformation with Mike Hoseus

Most companies embarking on a lean journey soon become frustrated with kaizen events and isolated improvement projects that yield great short-term results but have no sustainability. They are searching for something more: the culture of continuous improvement with its philosophy, processes, and people aligned to cultivate problem solving.

In this workshop Mike will address the top barriers to your lean transformation and what to do about them.

Date: Thursday, November 12
Time: 9:00am - 4:00pm
Location: Waterloo

This event is hosted by ILC member Black Hawk County.

ILC Feature Organization
Western Home Communities

Western Home Communities is a charitable Christian service organization that assertively creates fulfilling lifestyles for those we serve, their families and our employees.  Established in Cedar Falls in 1912, Western Home Communities offers a broad range of housing and services primarily to those 55+.  Currently 900 people live on two campuses in Cedar Falls.

One thing we recommend when others ask us about getting started with Lean is to start with a manageable group.  As employees see the results, they become passionate and step into leadership roles.  Then they can, in turn, spread it to other areas of the organization.  Better to start small, get it right and then permeate the entire organization than to try it everywhere all at once and expect overnight success.

Joining the ILC has helped us to acquire some of the tools needed to spread the Lean message throughout many more long-term care organizations.  We're seeing other organizations hungry to implement this process for quality improvement, and with all the changes in healthcare Lean offers a quantifiable way to mark progress.
