To the Burr Ridge Community,

Happy New Year! Whether you are one to set “New Year’s Resolutions” or not, this time of year is a natural opportunity to reflect on the year which has passed and look ahead to a new beginning in the year to come. We hope that you take a moment to reflect on 2022 with pride and gratitude, as we in the Village sure have!

We are grateful to our Village Staff and to those who have worked tirelessly to keep the Village of Burr Ridge looking beautiful and running smoothly day in and day out. We also reflect on the many opportunities we had to gather with you - our community - and we look forward to all the special events and gatherings to come in 2023! Stay tuned here and on social media for details on upcoming events.

We are no strangers to the winter weather, but it is always important to keep up to date on preparations and safety precautions this time of year. Ready.gov is a great resource when it comes to winter safety and we encourage you to visit their site and explore the information available to you.

Fire Hydrant Reminder

After a snowfall, remember to clear a three-foot radius around fire hydrants near your home. In an emergency, seconds matter. Searching for a buried hydrant, then shoveling away the snow and ice wastes valuable time to get water on the fire. Help Tri-State Fire Protection District and the Pleasantview Fire District help you!

Village Street Plowing

 Our regular snowplow drivers do their best to clear the streets as quickly and safely as possible. The first streets plowed are the main thoroughfares, followed by secondary streets.  Cul-de-sacs are generally plowed last and, during heavy snow or extended hours, they are often done by outside contractors.  Please be advised, shoveling snow from driveways onto the street is illegal, and cars parked on the street when snowfall is over 2" can be ticketed and towed since they impede plowing.

Mailbox Conditions

Is your mailbox ready to stand up to the rigors of winter or is it loose, damaged, or in need of repair? Please ensure that it is secure and in good condition. See mailbox standards below to be sure that yours meets the necessary requirements.

Post Material:

Wooden post (minimum 4”x4”, maximum 6”x6”).
Light Gauge hollow cast iron or steel pipe (maximum 3” diameter)

Box Setback:

The mailbox must be 6”-12” behind the back of the curb or the back of the shoulder

Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR)

We are pleased to announce the creation of a new financial document related to the Village, the Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR). This report is a significant condensation of the information found in our annual audit; it serves to provide an overview of the Village’s general financial position, major revenues, and other financial accomplishments. This document has been submitted to the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for consideration of an annual award for PAFR excellence; if we receive an award for the PAFR, we will receive an additional recognition from GFOA called the “Triple Crown”, which is only given to communities who receive awards of distinction for their budget, audit, and PAFR in a single year. We would be the 13th community in Illinois to obtain “Triple Crown” status if it were awarded, a terrific milestone!

Shop with a Cop

This holiday season, the Burr Ridge Police Department participated in a countywide "Shop with a Cop" program. Officer Robert Dumitru and Officer Nicole Copp assisted local families with their Christmas shopping. The Burr Ridge Police Department raised $1,700.00 this year from the No Shave November and Double Down December fundraising events in support of this program. Thank you to our participating officers and volunteers who helped to make this a special & memorable day for the kids and their families!
