Combined Sections Meeting (CSM)

DPT Students and Faculty attend CSM in Indianapolis

Trine University Doctor of Physical Therapy faculty and over 2/3rds of the students attended the APTA's annual Combined Sections Meeting (CSM). The conference was held in Indianapolis, IN in early February and spanned four days including pre-conference events. The event was hosted in Downtown Indianapolis and included over 8,000 PTs and PTAs.

CSM provided ample opportunity for the students to explore the many different genres of Physical Therapy and to network with other PTs from around the US.  Three of Trine University's students were selected from thousands to be volunteers. These students served as knowledgeable guides throughout the event.

Interprofessional Education

Since before the first students arrived, Trine University has been actively involved within the Fort Wayne Area Interprofessional Education Consortium (FWAIPEC). This consortium implements an Interprofessional educational curriculum in which students come together several times throughout the year to collaborate and grow as health care professionals. The consortium is a collaboration between Trine University DPT, Huntington University OTD, University of St. Francis PA and FNP, Manchester University Pharm. D, IPFW NP, IU School of Medicine-Fort Wayne, and Fort Wayne Medical Education Residency Programs.  IPE events are designed to break communication barriers, raise awareness, and eliminate stereotypes within the healthcare community. Students begin the program in their first year of graduate school and continue involvement throughout each semester.
