DPT Clinical Rotations

Third year DPT students are finishing their third clinical affiliation at the end of this fall semester.  This charter cohort has one more clinical internship to complete before their graduation in May of 2017.

The goal of the Trine's clinical education program is to graduate students ready for entry-level physical therapy. Every student is required to complete a full-time clinical affiliation in an acute, outpatient, and chronic setting prior to graduation.  Trine dedicates 34 weeks of it's curriculum to full-time clinical education with a four-week rotation in the summer, two eight-week rotations in the fall and a final fourteen-week rotation in the spring prior to commencement.

Several members of the charter class elected to do clinical rotations outside the Fort Wayne area.  Students have traveled to neighboring states such as Michigan and Ohio, while others have selected to practice PT in states such as Colorado, California, Florida, Georgia, Texas and Alaska. The wide range of clinic settings will prepare our students to become well-rounded entry-level physical therapists.

Happy Holidays from our Trine DPT family

New Faculty Addition

Trine University welcomes Tricia Widenhoefer PT, MSPT, CBIS to their DPT faculty.  Tricia has been hired to be the Director of Clinical Education (DCE).  Tricia has over 15 years experience as an acute physical therapist.  Most recently she was Rehab Therapy Manager for Parkview Regional Medical Center.  Prior to her joining the Trine DPT staff, she was very involved in the program as an advisory board member.

Students from all three cohorts volunteer time around the Fort Wayne area to help with community events such as The Buddy Walk, Fort4Fitness, and the MS Walk.
