Walking on sunshine in issue 430 of aboutfram

Having witnessed unopened magnolia flowers falling by the wayside this week, and a mass of birds constantly revisiting the bird feeders, stoking up during this somewhat unseasonal cold snap, let’s hope that by this weekend, spring can finally spring into action! The recent frosts have not only been unwelcomed by gardeners, but of course, by many of the cafes, pubs and restaurants hoping for full tables in blazing spring sunshine, so we’re looking forward to stepping out this weekend, appropriately dressed for spring, to do a bit of retail therapy and enjoy a glass of wine on a balmy terrace somewhere local!
Best wishes

What are you waiting for?

The Waiting Place is a collaborative project and group exhibition curated by Ann-Marie James and Emily Godden, combining mail art, a physical exhibition at The Art Station, an Instagram account and an online exhibition.

It is a project about waiting, made during a global pandemic, at a time when we are all collectively waiting in so many ways. Waiting for things to get back to normal, for things to change completely, waiting for news from loved ones, and news from government. Waiting for test results, waiting to find work, and waiting in particularly long socially distanced queues at the supermarket...

Steam Up!

The Long Shop Museum is excited to announce that it will be holding its annual Steam Up! and Vintage Craft Fair on Sun 23rd May.  It will be their first event back since 2020's Final Fling.

A very early example of a building designed for assembly-line production, the museum team can't wait to show off all the wonderful engines, back in steam after their long rest. And, even if steam engines aren't your thing, there will still be lots to see and do.

Tickets now on sale - click here for info

Re-opens May 18th - in the meantime, keep an eye on their website for further information.
