A Bright Future Ahead for ACMP!

During the month of September I, along with my fellow ACMP Toronto Board Members, had the opportunity to connect with several ACMP Global Board Members. They were interested in learning about our ACMP Toronto Chapter and how we can work better together to advance the key global priorities focused on:

  • Advancing the Discipline
  • Growing the Community
  • Globalizing the Infrastructure.

We took the opportunity to share some local work that we have done with our many partners to advance the discipline and grow our community in the GTA.  We talked about our various sponsors and partners including expanding to various educational institutions. We shared the early successes of our ACMP Toronto Mentoring Program Pilot and other professional development activities offered to our local membership.  They were intrigued and inspired by these efforts and came to realize that meaningful improvements must ensure that all members are able to derive value from the Global entity and the local chapter community. I am excited to continue this enhanced engagement with ACMP Global in the year ahead and will continue to provide updates as our work progresses. I am energized and excited for all that is to come for ACMP!

The ACMP Canadian Regional Conference took place here in Toronto on September 13th and 14th.  As host chapter, we were pleased to welcome 200 professionals from across North America for two engaging days focused on growing the discipline of change management.  The opening keynote speaker, Chip Bell, shared winning strategies for engaging others in the process of change. Following the opening keynote, attendees were able to choose from a variety of engaging topics and speakers ensuring everyone walked away with new insights and learning. Wrapping up the conference we all came together in a World Café exercise, hosted by Rob Oddi, to discuss and solution key measurement and ROI challenges in the change management profession. Overall, it was an inspiring and energizing two days reminding me that I cannot miss the Spring Global Change Management 2019 conference in Orlando, hope to see there!

The Toronto Chapter remains committed to continuing our local learning and engagement efforts.  Visit our Events Webpage often to learn about local opportunities to connect and grow the change management profession in the GTA.

Making Change Stick

“Making Change Stick – The Human and Organizational Dimensions of Successful Digital Transformation”

Presented by Usama El Saman,
Organizational Effectiveness Practice Lead (Canada), Hitachi Consulting

Join us to hear about Usama’s experience on the human and organizational dimensions of digital transformation. Digital transformation is most often seen as an information technology initiative, as the technology is the most significant investment. But, in many respects, the technology is the straightforward piece. Arguably the more challenging aspects are the human and organizational dimensions of the change that can stall or derail benefits.

She has delivered change management and stakeholder services which has enabled her clients to share new ideas, optimize decision-making, to enhance and deliver positive customer and user experiences while improving business results. Dimple was the winner of a second free ticket to attend the ACMP Canada 2018 conference and describes her experience of the two day event with us.

"As an experienced practitioner I was thoroughly inspired however there were three sessions that stood out for me:   Readiness to  Realization : Developing a Holistic Approach to Measurement, Change Management vs Managing Change, and Leveraging Neuroleadership to Thrive and Embrace Change."
Readiness to  Realization : Developing a Holistic Approach to Measurement
Putting the Pieces Together: An entire industry revolves around metrics that measure the success of a change process. This can help to put the jigsaw puzzle together. Here we had an opportunity to segment the change process along with  metrics to greater reach and efficiency, Early Engagement Business Readiness, and Utilization Proficiency Business Case Validation. As a change leader we must continually take the temperature of the authorizing environment — the views of the key sponsors, stakeholders and customer groups — during the transition. The sample metrics and guiding questions provided were effective in helping manage the change and communication which will secure and sustain resolve.

Reflections on ACMP Canada Regional Conference

Meet Cynthia Coulos - she was the winner of our Social Media contest, and won her registration to the ACMP Regional Conference in Toronto, compliments of ACMP Global. We asked her to share her conference experience with us.

It was a wonderful and welcome surprise to win free registration to the ACMP Toronto Regional conference!  I had high expectations going in and it turned out to be even better than I hoped. It was the perfect opportunity to recharge and get connected with professionals in the same field.  The learning and networking options offered a welcome forum to reconnect with former colleagues and make new connections from our area as well as across Canada and even Australia.

The learning opportunities I experienced were so applicable to a new role I’ve undertaken where I am responsible to lead the development of our enterprise-wide change management function and competency.  I appreciated the perspective of the two sides of the coin of “change management” and “managing change”.
