President's Message

Hello fellow change enthusiasts.

It was great to connect with many of you at the February Social. My thanks to our sponsors from ProjectWorld and to all attendees for the great conversations I enjoyed personally and saw animating the room. We are working on a great set of events through the rest of 2017 and I hope to see many of you at these events.

We are now turning our attentions towards chapter board elections. If you want to find out what being a board member involves I would be happy to personally connect and discuss this with you.

Here's hoping for an early spring!

Meet our Volunteers!
Featuring: Gerlinde Weger

There are many things that go on behind the scenes at ACMP Toronto: the work of the Board of Directors, committees, and sometimes one-off projects. This month we are shining the light on Gerlinde Weger, a member of ACMP Toronto’s Strategy Task Force. Gerlinde and the team have spent the last few months collecting and analyzing data from surveys and interviews done with ACMP members, and the recommendations from this were presented to the Board earlier this month.

Gerlinde, who has been an ACMP Toronto Chapter member since 2013, is a CM consultant, currently working on an assignment with BMO Financial. Specifically, she leads the CM function for projects in Personal and Commercial Banking.

The Communications team caught up with Gerlinde and asked her our three favourite questions:

1. Best advice you've received in regard to change management?
"'No' is the first step to 'yes'."  When implementing change initiatives, dealing with resistance is a sign of engagement.  When there is no response there usually is a lack of interest and a red flag that the change won’t be accepted..
2.  What hobbies/activities do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I love live performances, from indie theatre and new opera to classic symphony and blues.  I also am an avid cyclist and life time beginner golfer and skier.

 3.  What is the most interesting fact about you?
Hmm, not sure if I have a ‘most’ interesting fact.  Perhaps, an interesting experience is when living and working in Asia, I was on the women’s team representing Hong Kong  in the international dragon boat competition.  It was quite the experience representing the island. Also, my team during practice, beat the men’s team from Germany – quite to their astonishment.

Interested in Volunteering?

We are currently looking for ACMP members to share their time and talent to support the ACMP Toronto Chapter as together we continue to advance the discipline of change management in the GTA.

Email to express your interest in joining one of our committees.

The Change Leadership Conference

One of the biggest challenges facing organizations today is the increasing need to keep abreast of the rapid pace of change. Leaders at all levels are constantly being confronted by changes in the areas of technology, digital trends, customer expectations, data management, innovative practices etc. Alongside these changes are regulatory controls, environmental factors, and the need to carry along their teams.

With these rapid changes come the responsibility for leaders at all levels of the organizations to successfully lead their teams through these changes and complexities. As well as the need to create a culture that is able to respond to change better and faster.

Leading Change and Innovation in today’s fast-paced business environment will come down to three of these key success factors; Leadership, Culture and Responsiveness.

These success factors underpin the goal of The Change Leadership Conference by bringing together notable experts such as John C. Maxwell, award-winning and number one global leadership expert; and Jeremy Gutsche, also an award-winning innovation expert, and founder/ CEO of TrendHunter.

The conference also includes an expert panel sharing case studies, industry best practices, and valuable insights on leading change and disruptive innovation in their organizations, communities and marketplace.

The focus of this one day event is to introduce and reinforce leadership tools and innovative practices that participants can adopt to successfully lead change and innovation in today’s fast-paced business environment.
