We are thrilled to present a holiday play for the whole family - ELF, THE MUSICAL, November 25th to December 18th

Buddy, a young orphan, mistakenly crawls into Santa’s bag of gifts and is transported to the North Pole. The would-be elf is raised, unaware that he is actually a human, until his enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth. Elf, The Musical is a modern day holiday classic sure to make everyone embrace their inner elf. Directed by Gai Jones. Times are Friday & Saturday 7:30 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $10, $20, $25. Go to Ojaiact.org or call 805-640-8797.

Art...
The Jeff Sojka and Eilam Byle exhibit runs through November 30th.

JEFF SOJKA grew up sailing around the Channel islands, hiking in the sierra's, and surfing the central coast. Right out of high school he was awarded a scholarship to study in Germany, where he toured the great museums of Europe and started on his lifelong passion of art. At UC Santa Barbara, Sojka surfed nearly every day, intensifying his love affair with the relationship with light, water, sea, sand and shore, receiving a Bachelors of Art and earning a Masters degree from San Diego State University. After a short stint at an ad agency, Sojka decided he needed to be out in nature and to simply paint. He has been painting full time now for over a quarter of a century, displaying his work not only in Ojai, California, but also in galleries in Aspen, Colorado, Park City, Utah, and the islands of Hawaii. An astonishing array of collectors are enamored by his capacity to take iconic California landscapes and suffuse them with a lush luminosity that seems to glow from within.

EILAM BYLE Wood Sculptor, Painter will be exhibiting in the showcases. “I think that my work  is very much influenced by the zen energy of this special valley, I have been using wood as a means of expressing my creative side for the last 35 years, but love to use glass, metal, canvas, and paint as well…and it all shows up in my work.”

Local Ojai Artist Jeff Sojka, and the Nordhoff High School LIVE Club have joined forces to create a day of art and adventure at The Ojai Art Center. On Sunday, November 13th, between Noon and 4:00 p.m., there will be over 50 paintings on display along with a silent auction to raise donations for their service based trip to Guatemala. LIVE stands for Leadership through International Volunteer Expeditions. This year the students will be going to Antigua, Guatemala to work on a construction and renovation project to improve the infrastructure. The focus will be on building and improving schools, homes, playgrounds, and bathroom facilities to create a safer and more functional environment for those living there. The students will also learn about Guatemalan culture and expand their global citizenship through interacting with the locals. Please consider stopping by The Ojai Art Center and donating to support Nordhoff LIVE Club and their trip to Guatemala.
