ART... Duane Eells will open his first solo exhibition at the Ojai Art Center on July 6. This exhibition of oil paintings, titled DANCE, features a new body of work. This series is a part of Eells’ search for beauty and the sublime through representations of the human figure in motion. “In these paintings I look to find a balance between the figurative and the abstract. The design-driven spaces and bold colors create vibrance and vitality; the dancers’ movements and expressions reveal their passion and emotion,” states Eells. The exhibition runs from July 6-31 and the opening reception is July 6 from 5-7 pm.  The reception will include special performances by a few of the dancers whose paintings are on display in this show.
Both Showcases will display a special collection of Marta Nelson’s watercolor paintings and paper mache sculptures.
