THEATRE...

The Art Center Theater is proud to present BLESS YOUR HEART, an original play written by our own Artistic Director, Richard Camp. The play is an LOL comedy with heart, about evolution, religion and Elvis Presley. A teacher of evolutionary biology returns to his home in North Carolina to try and stop his 17-year-old brother from marrying the 18 year old Preacher's daughter. While there, he locks horns with his evangelical mother and his Baptist preacher stepfather. Their differences are displayed with an abundance of humor as the science and religion sides discover common ground between them, and re-discover the importance of family. Not to mention the 11-times married Aunt with an Elvis fetish, whose favorite phrase is "butter my butt an call me a biscuit!." BLESS YOUR HEART opens September 6th and runs weekends through September 29th. Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m., Sunday at 2 p.m. It's sure to be another jewel in the crown of our already wonderful 80th anniversary season. For tickets and reservations go to Ojaiact.org (preferred) or call 805-646-0117.

Artistic Director Richard Camp is proud to announce the 2020 season for the Art Center Theater. “We had nearly 80 submissions and as I looked through the selections a theme began to take shape. Because women are taking bold steps and asserting themselves in our overall society and in the theater world as well, I decided to give the 2020 season a blanket title: 'The Year of the Woman'.” Each of the five plays in the season is either written by, directed by (or both) or features women in prominent roles. Season tickets go on sale September 15 at OjaiACT.org.
