This month's newsletter comes to you from Canada, where I have been working on Form(ed), a new cross-disciplinary collaboration with Toronto-based ceramic artist, Dianne Lee. We are currently writing exhibition proposals and grant applications for both the UK and Canada, with an aim to show Summer 2014.
Once a year, artists and filmmakers from all over the world take part in Videoholica International Video Art Festival, in Varna, Bulgaria. I submitted my short film Brusied in response to this year's theme, 'Out of Focus'. It will be screened on Videoholica's opening night, along with the work of 23 other artists, The festival runs from August 1st- 6th, and includes artists talks, specials events, performances and screenings.
Last month artists from Bloc Studios in Sheffield, journeyed to Nástupište, an artist-run space in Topoľčany, Slovakia. To accompany their exhibition, I was asked to produce a short film documenting life at Bloc, giving a brief history of the building, and introducing some of the participating artists. My film was screened on opening night, and although I was unable to make the trip, I am told it was very well-received.

I also helped to organise a correspondence project between the two countries. Bloc studio holders were invited to produce a postcard of their own design and include their preferred method of contact on the card's reverse. The postcards were displayed at Nástupište, where local Slovakian artists were encouraged to choose a card of their liking, and strike up a dialogue with their chosen card's creator.

To complete the exchange, Slovakian artists Oto Hudec, Zuzana Flimelová, and Matej Lack will be travelling to Sheffield to guerilla the space at Bloc Projects. Regular Line: Topoľčany – Sheffield opens 30th August.
