The Carbon Literacy Project: Climate Change learning for everyone.

Welcome! The latest news from The Carbon Literacy Project...

"Climate change does not respect borders; it does not respect who you are - rich and poor, small and big. Therefore, it is what we call 'global challenges,' which require global solidarity."
~ Ban Ki-Moon, Secretary-General of the United Nations

 Reflections on B Corp Month

Sometimes we question whether business is inherently good or bad, and whether it can help or harm our global mission to reverse climate change. Can the structure of B Corps go some way to proving business can be a force for positive change? B Corps attempt to care for profit, people and planet.

Find out more about the B Corp movement and our reflections here.

For some time now, we have been discussing how within our organisation, and in our field of sustainability and climate change solutions, we can do something more concrete to address the lack of Black voices and the lack of representation in our field. As an organisation, we are diverse in gender, orientation and origin, but we are not diverse in terms of ethnicity. We have identified some of the barriers that we need to address in order to do better.

We are looking for help in supporting underrepresented individuals and communities... find out more here.

We often get queries asking for advice and support in making the financial case to colleagues to roll out Carbon Literacy. Sometimes this can be for help to make the argument, sometimes evidence of impact, sometimes materials to help make the case for colleagues to participate. One really great testimonial you will find useful comes from Winchester City Council's Naomi Wise, who piloted our Carbon Literacy Toolkit for Local Authorities Generic Staff Course.

You can also find a selection of other testimonials here.

Net Zero Yorkshire and Humber

March saw a focus on the Yorkshire and Humber region and its journey to net zero, with a number of key events that The Carbon Literacy Project was either involved in or attended. Most notable of these were the back-to-back launch events of the Yorkshire & Humber Climate Commission and Speak Carbon Yorkshire.

The Carbon Literacy Project is a unique project, working with everyone who lives, works or studies, to offer a day's worth of training to the Carbon Literacy Standard. Once Carbon Literate, we have an instinctive understanding of the carbon impacts of our activities, are able to make informed choices, and, driven by the urgency, act positively to address climate change.
