Welcome! The latest news from The Carbon Literacy Project...
"Climate change does not respect borders; it does not respect who you are - rich and poor, small and big. Therefore, it is what we call 'global challenges,' which require global solidarity."
~ Ban Ki-Moon, Secretary-General of the United Nations
Within our organisation, we have been discussing how, in our field of sustainability and climate change solutions, we can do something more concrete to address the lack of Black voices and the lack of representation in our field.
Please read our full update to find out how we are beginning to address this within The Carbon Literacy Project.
Here at the CLP, we recently came across this brilliant resource - Climate Reframe. The Climate Reframe project aims to highlight some of the best Black, Brown, Asian, People of Colour and UK based Indigenous Peoples who are climate experts, campaigners and advocates living and working in the UK.

Greater Manchester Green Recovery
Recently our Helen Filby attended a virtual Five Year Environment Plan Forum meeting, held in connection with the Greater Manchester Green City Partnership. The meeting looked at the direct connections between the urgent need to recover from the COVID-19 emergency, and the need to remould our economy and society into one dealing with the even bigger and deeper Climate Emergency. Green Recovery? Or Green Reset?
Read more about how this conversation progressed, incorporating Greater Manchester’s zero-carbon targets into ideas of how to ‘build back better’.
Carbon Literacy Distance Delivered
A range of Open Carbon Literacy courses - all distance delivered - are being offered by external training organisations and freelance trainers, addressing the challenges of geographic location and the Covid-19 pandemic at the same time. They are open to all, and offer full Carbon Literacy certification.
Check the course list here, and/or bookmark it, as opportunities are updated on a daily basis.
