November has come and gone, and in no time flat, 2019 will be in the rear-view mirror! It's been an amazing year for us, and we're really excited for the programs we have planned to share with you in 2020!
One of those programs will be our first fully-staged opera: Antonio de Literes's Los Elementos. This program, the earliest known Italianate opera composed in Spain, will be (we believe) Texas's first fully staged rendition of this masterpiece.
This year, our Giving Tuesday fundraiser will focus exclusively upon this production. We're hoping to raise $1,000 for two main expenses: $500 to obtain orchestral parts for the opera and secure performance rights, and $500 to cover expenses related to the staging of the work (things like costumes, props, and set design).
There are two ways to help out. Clicking here will bring you to ur Facebook fundraiser page: Facebook has pledged to match the first $7 million of donations given today, December 3. If you prefer to donate directly to us, you can click here to find our secure online donation portal (you'll also find our address if you prefer to do it the old-fashioned way!).
Earlier this year, "Big Little Donors" proved that many working together can achieve big things. We raised over $3,000 made up of donations of $50 or less. We're hoping that our Giving Tuesday drive is made up of many smaller donations as well! We are convinced this is one of the only ways for an organization such as ours to be financially sustainable today.
Thank you all so very, very much for your support these past eight-plus years. It is no overstatement that ABO simply wouldn't exist if not for your love and patronage, and we hope you all realize how grateful we all are for the important role you play.
We're also still on the lookout for board members – simply email us if you are interested in learning more.
