Amplify Austin Day!

Dear <<First Name>>,

Is it really already almost March? 2022 is already flying by, and it feels like it just got here!

If it's almost March, that means it's almost time for Amplify Austin, Central Texas's annual extravaganza of giving for nonprofits. The fundraiser will begin at 6pm on Wednesday, March 2 and continues for 24 hours.

Click here to reach our Amplify Austin profile. You can donate to us through this portal, and there are several matching opportunities available, which will help you multiply your contribution without having to pay any extra! Simply scroll down and click on "Match Potential" to learn more. There are suggested donation amounts that give you an idea of what your contribution can cover, or you can select your own custom amount.

We have set an admittedly ambitious goal for this year's fundraiser of $10,000. Half of that will go toward supporting our next concert program (more on that below), with the remainder being banked for the future. It's a lofty goal, for sure, but if everyone chipped in even $5 or $10, we'd make it there before long. Around 68¢ of every dollar you contribute goes directly to one of our musicians. Keeping overhead low allows us to bring you more music.

We have a concert coming up! At the end of April we'll bring you Musique por Coucher le Roi – a program of chamber music from the court of France's Louis XIV. We have the dates set and as soon as we nail down the venues, we'll open up ticket sales and let you all know. This will be our first French program in a couple of years and will feature music by Lully, Marais, Jacquet de la Guerre, and more!

We hope to hear from you for Amplify Austin! It's no exaggeration to say that we wouldn't be able to do what we do without your loving and generous support. We're so glad we're still able to share beautiful music with you after a very rough past two years – and we hope to be able to keep doing just that for years to come!

Musically yours,

Billy Traylor – Artistic Director
Stephanie Noori – Concertmaster
Chelsee Sandaker – Ensemble Administrator
James Moran – President, Board of Directors

What's New With ABO

Musique pour le Coucher du Roi

April 30 – 7:30pm (Austin)
May 1 – 3:00pm (San Antonio)
(Venues TBA)

Everything at Louis XIV's Versailles was elaborately choreographed. The royal day closed with a set of events known as the coucher. One ingredient of the coucher was music; we'll perform beautiful and elegant chamber music that may have been performed for Louis's bedtime, written by composers from the king's inner circle including Lully, Marais, Couperin, Jacquet de la Guerre, and more.

ABO is now on Spotify!

Over the past year we've been uploading some audio from our archives onto the streaming service Spotify. With an audience from around the globe, Spotify will allow us to reach listeners from not only Central and South Texas, but thousands of miles away! Music that was performed for the first time in centuries for you can now be heard by music-lovers everywhere. We're also on YouTube – check out our profile for videos of French, Latin American, and early Italian music!
