Celebrate the Night at a New Festival!

"Maple Ridge’s Town Centre will be event central for the new “Celebrate the Night” festivities that marks Halloween on Sunday, October 30 from 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm. This free family friendly event will include storytelling, spooktacular crafts, pumpkin carving and painting, magical lanterns, entertainment, face painting, costume parade and food and the night’s finale will be fireworks to light up the sky in Memorial Peace Park, 224 Street. Rain or shine event."
Fall Brush Chipping Program
In partnership with the City of Maple Ridge, Ridge Meadows Recycling Society administers the Spring & Fall Brush Chipping Program for Maple Ridge residents.
No pre-booking is necessary, simply place branches at the roadside adjacent to your property by the set-out deadline for your area.
Reminder! There will be NO Recycling Pickup and the Depot will be CLOSED on Friday, November 11 for the Remembrance Day stat holiday. Regular curbside pickup will resume the following Friday.

1. TRUCK DRIVER – Full Time Recycling Truck Driver Position Available
Ridge Meadows Recycling Society has a truck driver position available immediately.
The position is full time (40 hours/week plus overtime) and pays $21.27/hour. Please send in your applications ASAP.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
-Responsible for timely pickup of recyclable commodities at curbside residences, apartments, townhouses, offices, businesses, & schools (as assigned)
-Responsible for driving recycling truck & commodity pickup (“swamping”)
-Maintain Daily Inspection Report of truck & equipment
-Maintain accurate Tonnage & Milage Reports
-Complete all required reports & paperwork as assigned
-Clear Driving Abstract – to be supplied with application
-Ability to operate other job-related equipment (eg. bin tippers, pallet jacks)
-Public Relations & Customer Service – ability to answer questions & handle individual customer concerns
-Responsible for overseeing Swampers and ensuring their safety
-Processing recyclables at the Maple Ridge Recycling Depot
-Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
-Truck driving experience
-Able to perform physical labour such as lifting, bending & running
-Able to work in all weather conditions
-Understand and adhere to safety requirements
Qualifications: -Air Brake Licence -Emergency First Aid -Undergo Criminal Records Check
-Must be bondable -Certified forklift -Undergo Driving Record Check
-Must have neat appearance and excellent communication skills
-Prefer experience working with adults with developmental disabilities

2. SUPERVISOR - Full Time Position Available
Ridge Meadows Recycling Society is seeking a Supervisor to join our team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Job Objective: To provide quality supervision for operation of the Maple Ridge Recycling Depot and daily Curbside Recycling Collection program. Includes fleet management and logistics planning to maximize efficiency of staffing, equipment, facility, and operations; ensure quality & consistency of commodities shipped; and customer service.
The ideal candidate will have many of the following education, skills or proven experience:
EDUCATION / TRAINING OR EXPERIENCE:
Driver’s Licence – Air Brake or Class 3
Clean Driving record
Certified Forklift Driver
Certified Skidsteer Loader Driver
Advanced mechanical, hydraulics aptitude
First Aid
Criminal record check required
Knowledge/Skills/Experience: Must have supervisory experience, demonstrated leadership abilities, Fleet Management experience, good oral and written communication skills, ability to observe, acknowledge and respond to public relations issues, proven customer service skills, ability to problem solve in a constructive and/or creative manner, self-directed/self-motivated, ability to multi-task.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Daily supervision of employees to ensure; maximum production, efficient task completion, operate equipment as required, maintain daily/monthly reports, coordinate daily shipment of recyclables with freight companies, maintain smooth efficient flow of commodities within the depot operation, ensure safety-first attitude for all staff members, resolve behavioural problems or conflicts between staff, ongoing daily maintenance of all equipment: trucks, balers, forklifts. Ensure daily and regular safety inspections are completed and recorded, responsible for ensuring all safety standards are met, ensure customer service standards are met. Some hands-on labouring work as needed.
