Earth Day is now a week away and has shaped up to be a spectacular event! This year's theme is ENERGY! and we are looking at renewable energy and what inspires & recharges us in our daily lives. Here are just a few of the energizing things to look forward to...
-get recharged at one (or more!) Human Recharging Stations - from Books and Blankies to Art & Zumba, there's something for everyone!
-drop off your gently used books, toys, & clothing and come find something NEW to you at the Family Freecycle, located in the Greg Moore Youth Centre
-learn what a theramin is, play music using your body's energy, and listen to a world premiere by the Vancouver Experimental Theramin Orchestra
  -treat yourself to delicious eats at the 2nd annual Food Truck Festival starring Hunger Management, Super Thai, and Pub Grubs!
-join the Maple Ridge Library for storytime - if you come at 11am, you'll even see the fabulous Queen Elsa from Frozen!
-enter HUB: Your Cycling Connection's Cycle Recycle Free Bike Draw
-listen to amazing local talent on 3 different stages. Performers include Shades of Green, Andrew Brice, Shannon Matters, Band for Good, Basement Sweets, and more!!
-paint & take home a ceramic sun courtesy of the Maple Ridge Pitt Meadows Art Studio Tour artists
-interested in electric vehicles? Check out Vancouver Electric Vehicle Association's EV display and have an expert anwer all your questions. PLUS!! Llearn how your electric car can power your home during a power failure!
-buy some fresh veggies and meet old friends at the first Haney Farmers Market of the year

The Earth Day Family Freecycle now has specially marked red drop-off bins at schools, daycares, & local businesses or bring your gently used Clothing, Books, & Toys to the Freecycle drop-off event from 4-7pm on Friday, April 22 in front of the ACT. Swing by the Greg Moore Youth Centre on Earth Day (April 23) from 10am - 2pm to find something NEW to you!
at Earth Day!

We will have our curbside boxes set up at different places on the Earth Day site to help divert recyclables from the garbage.

AJM Disposal will also have containers on site to collect organics (food scraps, paper towels & napkins, etc.).

Join us on the Bandstand at 10:30am as we kick off Earth Day with Katzie, federal, provincial, & municipal VIPs, help the Community Network launch their "Community Superheroes" campaign, and celebrate the winners of the Earth Day Photo & Poetry Contests!
