A Must See!

The "Seussification of a Midsummer Night's Dream" was chosen for MOEC's spring school play, and what a play it was! This was the Second Annual Shakespearean Spoof which was directed by MOEC English teacher, Brandie Maddox who also put together these fantastic costumes. The beautiful set was designed by the students. When it was time to finally watch this masterpiece, the seats were packed. The audience could feel how much fun the cast members were having which translated into an enjoyable experience for all. Not to mention, it was so funny! Way to go MOEC, we can't wait until the Third Annual Shakespearean Spoof!

Community Outreach

The local Laramie Montessori Charter School approached Joe Haney, Deaf Education Director at CHC, to teach sign language to their students. However, Joe saw this as an opportunity for one of MOEC's deaf students to take on this task. On Fridays during the month of April, one such student ("Lucinda") took time during her lunch break to teach 2nd and 3rd grade students sign language. Pictured left is Joe, "Lucinda," and CHC staff, Alexa. According to Joe, “It was a success! The teacher told me the students were even practicing at home. This teacher was getting emails from the parents saying how excited their kids were to learn sign language.” By the end of the month, all students were given a sign name. Traditionally, only a person who is deaf can give out sign names and the students were honored. “You could see "Lucinda" had so much pride afterward because she really got to see the results,” said Joe. “It’s neat to take something that others would consider a disability and turn it into an asset.”

Bowl for LYCC

The Laramie Youth Crisis Center hosted their Inaugural Bowling Fundraiser, Bowl for LYCC. Pictured left is the Dandy Directors bowling team made up of some of CHC's Board of Directors. This team was among several who came to support this worthy cause. There was fun, food, prizes, and donations. What more could you ask for? If you're looking for a great way to give back and have a great time, check back next year for the announcement of Bowl for LYCC's 2nd Annual Fundraiser.
