What does R200 buy?

A dinner out? A third of a tank of fuel? Maybe movie tickets and popcorn for two?

Sometimes it feels like R200 (about €15 / $17) doesn't go very far at all, but at Yenzani Children's Home, a donation of R200 could pay for:
  • 20 loaves of bread per week
  • 3 cases milk
  • 2 flu injections
  • Taxi fare for 2 children to get to and from school for 1 week
  • 2 weeks' chronic medication for 1 of 4 children (medication not funded by government clinics)
  • 1 x winter school jersey

Please consider committing to a monthly donation to Yenzani of R200 (or more if you like!). You might have to give up the occasional takeaway meal, bottle of wine or other luxuries, but the difference that your R200 can make to our children is immense. And being able to rely on that money every month is a great help to us as we plan our budget!

If we can get 100 people to commit to contributing R200 every month, that's R20 000 we can rely on, which covers our average monthly food, transport and medical costs.

Your R200 can make a difference.

PS: If you donate before 25 June, you also stand to win one of two induction cooker stove plates!

We have a new-look logo!

We've been talking about refreshing the Yenzani logo for awhile and we're thrilled with the new look, designed by Snapping Turtle. We also have a new website coming soon, so watch this space! We'd love to hear what you think of the logo, so drop me a mail with your thoughts, or leave us a comment on Facebook or Twitter.

For your calendar:

  • Youth Day, 16 June: South Africa celebrates National Youth Day to commemorate the start of the Sowetan Riots of 1976, and as a fundamental step in South Africa’s journey to democracy, and as a mark of living in a free country. Support Yenzani for Youth Day by making a donation here.
  • Mandela Day, 18 July: To honour the late Nelson Mandela, South Africans celebrate his birthday every year by choosing to spend 67 minutes doing good. Contact us if you'd like to get involved in helping Yenzani this Mandela Day!

Drink coffee in June to support Yenzani!

Yenzani is one of the three charities for June at Vintage Coffee (69 Freight Road, Centurion)! Buy a cup of coffee and vote for us, and we could win the coffee shop's profits for the month of June!

"Vintage Coffee is a non-profit artisanal coffee shop that is driven by a simple yet radical mission: to add value to our city one cup of coffee at a time. Through an appreciation of fusion and a blend of passion, Vintage Coffee has found a way to give back to the community in the hopes that the money donated will add value to the organisation which will, in turn, add value to life."
