INFRASTRUCTURE ACT EFFECTIVE FROM JULY 1


The Infrastructure Development Act came into effect on Tuesday following a proclamation signed by President Jacob Zuma.

 

AMENDMENTS TO THE SAICE CONSTITUTION
 

All Corporate Members are reminded to vote on the proposed amendments to SAICE’s Constitution.
 
A copy of the amended Constitution together with additional background information and an explanation is available on the SAICE website (www.saice.org.za)
 
Ballot papers were distributed in the July issue of the SAICE Magazine.
Closing date is 11 August 2014
 

COURSES AND TRAINING AT SAICE

A noted expert, Prof Zvi Borowitsh of the Wits School of Mining Engineering and the Israeli Institute of Technology, presenting his course at SAICE during July.


Throughout the year, SAICE hosts a number of CPD accredited courses at SAICE House in Midrand. With facilities to accommodate 100 people, SAICE sees great attendance at its many courses.

The Richards Bay (Zululand) branch has been revived, has an active committee and is fully functional and spirited again. SAICE is confident that the revitalisation of the branch will lead to improved servicing and connections with members in that region.

DRAFT IDENTIFICATION OF ENGINEERING WORK REGULATIONS


The Council for the Built Environment (CBE), has filed an exemption application with the Competition Commission for the Identification of Work (IDOW), on behalf of ECSA.
 

BEP 2014 – A joint response to the Department of Public Works 

Earlier this year, SAICE opened up a platform for public comment and invited members to share their thoughts on the draft Built Environment Policy (BEP) 2014, as set out in Government Gazette No. 37653, Board Notice 370 of 2014.
