SAICE Membership stats - Branch Distribution


2015 President, Malcolm Pautz was inaugurated at the SAICE Presidential Inauguration and Gala Dinner held at Emperors Palace in Johannesburg on 12 February 2015. Pautz is the youngest ever president in the 113-year history of SAICE. The event was attended by various high-profile guests, including the Nigerian Society of Engineers’ representatives, Engineers Chidi Isuwah Snr and Ademola Olorunfemi, champions of the infrastructure industry, government officials, engineering clients from both the private and public sectors, as well as SAICE members from across the country.

Manglin Pillay speaks out on Radio 702 this morning - Why Cuban and not local engineers?

Department of Water and Sanitation have contracted 35 Cuban specialists to work in the various fields of water in an agreement between the two governments. SAICE is not happy with that roll-out. “We believe we have very competent civil engineers who are world renowned.  Money is not the issue it is about attracting South African's into the sector first. The Minister of Water Affairs and Sanitation needs to know we are open for talks to attract locals back into the sector…”

ECSA calls for expression of interest

ECSA regularly has the need to call on Registered Professionals to assist in investigating cases of alleged improper conduct against registered persons, or to investigate engineering-related undertakings whereby public health and safety may have been prejudiced as well as to sit as tribunal members in disciplinary hearings. ECSA is calling for expressions of interest from professionals with relevant experience to be included in the ECSA vendor roster as engineering experts.  Closing date for submissions is 27 February 2015.
