SAICE National IP Showdown a great success 


The SAICE National IP Showdown, which was held at the University of Pretoria on 1 December 2014, was a runaway success seeing many high-profile industry players come to support and encourage the next generation of civil engineers as the best student teams from six universities across the country presented their final-year research projects while competing for a grand prize of R10 000 and an internship at Nyeleti Consulting.

South Africa ranked 83rd in the World Energy Council assessment of energy sustainability


Every year the World Energy Council’s (WEC) Energy Trilemma Index measures the performance of country energy and climate policies in balancing the triple challenge of the energy trilemma. It assigns a score to each dimension of the trilemma – energy security, energy equity (affordability and access), and environmental sustainability – and pinpoints areas for improvement.  South Africa takes the 83rd spot globally among 129 countries and receives a score of 96.

Nigerian delegation visit the Zulu Kingdom

Earlier last month, delegates from the Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers (NICE) received a warm welcome from the SAICE Durban branch committee members. Mr I.O Ijirotimi, chairman of NICE, was part of the group of engineers and was the main liaison during the visit to Durban.

Revised call for papers for EWB Conference Livingstone Lusaka

The deadline for papers in respect of the Fifth Engineers Without Borders (EWB) Conference has been extended to 31 December 2014.  Each paper that will be accepted for presentation will receive an honorarium of ZMW1, 000.00. In addition, the presenter (one per paper even if there are multiple authors), will have free conference registration and meals free throughout the conference.
