UCC Calgary & UCC-APC Summer Student 2021



We are delighted to announce that Khrystyna Zagirska is our first-ever Canada Summer Jobs Program (“CSJP”) student in partnership with UCC-APC. Thank you to the Ukrainian Canadian Congress Alberta Provincial Council for this opportunity for Calgary youth and UCC Calgary. 
Khrystyna is a student at the University of Calgary Bachelor Program in International Relations. She is the prominent and inspirational youth leader in our community and Chief Vykhovnyk at CYM Calgary looking after the youth programming of the entire organization. We look forward to having Khrystyna this summer and have her join UCC-APC as well for the duration of the assignment. Дякуємо, Христиночко за Вашу допомогу!

Academy-Festival "The Golden Voice of Diaspora"

Ukrainian Canadian Congress, Calgary Branch is supporting the launch of the Academy-Festival "The Golden Voice of Diaspora" envisioned and created by Ihor Bohdan, Merited Artist of Ukraine. The Golden Voice of Diaspora is the first of its kind festival-competition in North America to celebrate and promote the Ukrainian song and feature Ukrainian talents in Canada and USA. Vocalists of 16 years of age and older in all genre of Ukrainian song are invited to submit their applications to ibohdan@shaw.ca Please contact Ihor directly with inquiries about the festival-competition.

Ukrainian Canadian Congress Alberta Provincial Council invites members of the community to share stories or works of art depicting instances of resilience: "We invite you and your organization to participate in the initiatives. These stories and works of art will be compiled into a printed and digital journal to be shared with the community. Please share our call for submissions in the form of a story/poem/essay with a maximum of 750 words or a piece of visual art or photograph, accompanied by an explanation of 250 words or less. The call for submissions is open and encouraged for people of all ages – from children to seniors."

can be made to digitize or record them. 

Ivan Franko Ukrainian School of Ukrainian Studies in Edmonton is inviting students ages 12-14 who live outside Edmonton to join their online educational  program. It is a great opportunity for young graduates of Calgary's Ukrainian School and courses to continue their Ukrainian education in Alberta.

Ukraine's Independence Day 2021

August 24, 2021, marks the 30th year of Ukraine’s Independence. On Sunday, August 22, 2021, UCC Alberta will host an online event dedicated to the 30th-anniversary celebration. Our community is invited to participate in this event by contributing a recording. This video production may have many performing facets - vocal, dance, poetic recitals, or interactive presentation that signify Ukraine’s Independence to your organization. We are asking for a 5min clip featuring your members. Video support can be offered. UCC Calgary will be facilitating as needed our community participation in the online program and is discussing in-person components of the celebration. Stay tuned!
