December 2019 Bulletin

Dear FRP-BC members and friends,

It's been a busy last few months! We have been working hard to meet our members' needs. You've probably already heard that we're getting a new website, which is set to launch in early 2020. Currently in the works is a new discussion forum which will allow members from all over the province to share and connect. Do you have questions you have been wanting to ask other FRPs? Please let us know what topics you want to see in the discussion forum.

To add to this exciting news, we are also getting a new logo! Our new logo will include our recently altered name (which officially changed from "BC Association of Family Resource Programs" to "Family Resource Programs of BC") and will better reflect the sense of community we aim to achieve among our members. Keep your eyes peeled!

In the meantime, we wish you all a wonderful and safe holiday season. We'll be in touch in the new year.

Best wishes,

Tara & Michelle

Helping Children Manage Stress – Tools for Resilience

It's a stressful world (and sometimes stress can be a good thing!). In some ways, today's families are under more stress than ever before and that includes children and youth. Beyond having caring adults in their lives, research tells us that if children can learn to respond to stress in a healthy and constructive way early on, they will be more resilient and better able to cope with whatever life sends their way. Helping young people manage stress takes time and access to some tools to help; the evidence-backed work of The Psychology Foundation of Canada and their “Kids Have Stress Too!” and “Stress Lessons” program and resources can help, so too this great line-up of free, downloadable tip sheets on a wide variety of topics pertinent across the developmental stages.  Curious to learn more or host a “Kids Have Stress Too!” workshop?
