Featuring Dr. Erika Cheng:
Dr. Erika Cheng is a family physician who delivers inpatient, outpatient and emergency medical care, and teaches students, residents, and fellow healthcare providers. Dr Cheng’s special interests include Post-Traumatic Stress and Dissociation, Suicide Prevention, the promotion of Trauma-Informed Care and Cultural Competency in Health Care, and the strengthening of community-based knowledge on healing from Trauma.
Dr Cheng is also a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Family Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, at the University of British Columbia; is Co-Chair of the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority’s Trauma-Informed Practice Steering Committee; and has given numerous presentations to Native and Non-Native healthcare providers, teachers, and youth on the subject of reaching past the cycle of trauma.
