Playground Maintenance - Safety Warning

The HOA will proceed with a project to enhance the swing park (at the corner of Edgepine Drive and Oakboro Glen Court) and its safety standards with regards to mulch around the playground equipment. Upon a recent inspection, we were advised that the standard is to maintain 6-9" of playground mulch in and around all equipment. In order to place the necessary levels of mulch without impeding the proper use of the swings, we have to excavate the current compacted and decomposed mulch.

Carolina Pro Lawn is scheduled to conduct the efforts beginning tomorrow, July 27, 2016, to take care of the mulching. We are anticipating the "down time" of the park should be no longer than 3 days, barring any unforeseen circumstances such as inclement weather or any discovery leading to a change in scope of the project. The work will require the use of a Bobcat or similar equipment to dig-out the compacted and decomposed mulch, and during the renovation time, the playground will be unavailable for use by the community. We have requested the area be marked off with caution tape and cones, along with signage indicating the area will be "off limits" until renovation is complete.

We have asked the contractor to minimize any tools that remain on the property during off hours, but there is the possibility that the Bobcat or other major construction equipment might remain on the premises overnight. We are asking all residents and guests to respect the signage and boundaries that should be in place and to refrain from entering or using the swing park during this time until the renovations are complete and all signage and boundaries have been removed.

This notice is for the safety of you and your children, as the excavation process may expose roots and/or other dangerous debris that would pose a hazard, and any contractor equipment would be dangerous to play on or around.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
