Suzanne Giesemann's Interview with Rochelle Wright
Rochelle Wright and Suzanne Giesemann

Repair & Reattachment Grief Therapy reduces and or virtually eliminates the deep grief in which experiencers are immersed. They reorient the beliefs, images, feelings of guilt and anger, trauma, and perspectives on the loved ones passing so they are replaced by reassurance, joy, a renewed feeling of love and connection, and peace. The sadness at this separation through death is usually desensitized so the person doesn't remember it in the same way the sadness dissipates.  People don't forget their loved ones, but after the Repair & Reattachment Grief Therapy session, they see them in a better light, and most of the time the sadness is reduced or gone. As a
result of the Grief Therapy session connections, experiencers are assured of their loved ones' wellbeing, continued presence in their lives, and happiness. It makes the grief more bearable and reduces the feeling of separation.

I was fortunate to spend a day with Rochelle Wright in Gig Harbor for an entire day participating in her Repair and Reattachment Grief Therapy. I have always believed that trauma and the possible PTSD that can occur is overlooked in the grief journey. The day had a profound impact for me and I highly recommend visiting her website for more information and also listening to Suzanne Giesemann's interview with Rochelle on her Messages of Hope radio program.

Dr. Mark Pitstick and his book 'SoulProof'

Evolved Souls Don’t Need Long Earthly Lives
August 2019
by Mark Pitstick, MA, DC

To all parents, I am very sorry about the physical death of your child.  However, I am glad you are open to learning how to heal and transform.  Six key understandings to making that shift are:

1. Your child is alive and well in another phase of forever.

2. Only his physical body died.  Everything else continues eternally: all the love, light, energy, humor, personality, memory, energetic and subtle bodies, and much more.  Really knowing this allows you to journey from seeing yourself as a bereaved to a shining light parent

3. She is happy, peaceful, and enthusiastic – and wants you to be that way now.

4. You will see her when you pass on and can enjoy relationships with her now.

5. You can choose to transmute your grief into a spiritually transformative experience that powerfully improves your life and blesses others.

6. You can heal and increase the gifts from his life by lovingly serving others

Many parents have realized this great news and are living happy and fulfilling lives again.  You can do the same.  It’s not easy and doesn’t happen overnight, but it is possible with small steps day by day.  Here are five action steps . . .

  1. Attend local and online Helping Parents Heal (HPH) meetings
  2. Call The Caring Listeners to talk at no charge.
  3. Read relevant Foundational Articles for Healing & Transforming on SoulProof.com and take action steps
  4. Listen to my free Radio Shows and our answers to life’s toughest questions including why children die.
  5. Lean on others then later, when you are doing better, pay it forward
Q: I don’t understand how to even think of becoming a ‘shining light parent.’  I am so sad and in so much pain that it seems impossible.  - Maureen

A: I get it, Maureen.  Your thoughts have been echoed by many parents and family members with a child who seems to have graduated from earth school too early.  Indeed, finding the blessings to this one can initially seem like ‘Mission Impossible’.  No one could ever rightfully judge you if you stay at this point.  Helping Parents Heal is there to stand beside you, listen, care, and help you walk through the darkness one day at a time.

However, Helping Parents Heal also exists to invite bereaved parents and family members to try other ways to get through thisThey share how you can heal and transform, even when that sounds like crazy talk.

Those who have a breakthrough – instead of a breakdown – become a powerful force for love, wisdom, and service in our world.  Some of the most impressive change agents I’ve met are bereaved parents who are journeying toward becoming shining light parents.  Understandably, their lives are usually filled at first with lower energy emotions: pain, sadness, loneliness, anger, resentment, guilt, blame, hopelessness, and more.

However, over time, some parents learn a new way to live – no matter what is going on around them.  They choose, for ultimately it is a choice, to focus on the silver linings to the dark clouds that seem impenetrable.

They learn that their children are living in realms predominated by love, peace, joy, gratitude, enthusiasm, and other higher energy emotions.  These parents also come to know that being on a similar wavelength as their ‘departed’ child aids sensing their presence.  Some parents master the difficult task of focusing on the positive even though their hearts still feel broken.

It’s not easy, but it is possible.

One of the most powerful ways they upgrade their pain and suffering is by serving others.  In a sacred art of transmutation, they learn to heal themselves by helping others.  Their lesson is one that we all would be wise to learn.

Might there be a vantage point – from somewhere in the cosmos or perhaps within your heart – where everything, including the bodily death of your child and the unspeakable pain, makes sense?  If this is true, and I believe it is based on everything I know, might that lighten your burden – even just a bit?  Is it conceivable that you, day by day, can join the ranks of shining light parents?

I encourage you to study the six key understandings and begin taking the five action steps at the top of this article.  Then please let me know how you are doing in 90 days.

Hugs, love, and blessings,
Mark

Fellowship and Coincidences
Kristine and Ernie Jackson, their son Quinton

An Old Soul

What exactly is an old soul?  We have heard the term throughout our lifetimes, often not understanding its implications.   My Father in Law, Ed Cano knew Quinton for three years before he transitioned back to pure energy on June 8, 2003.  While here, he recognized Quinton as an old soul.

So what is an old soul?  Well, it is something I aspire to be.  At times I think I am well on my way, only to know that in actuality I may be quite young.  My image of an old soul is one with a deep sense of peace about them, like a deep well of cool water that cannot be rocked by turmoil, doubt or misunderstanding.  A sense of calm pervades an old soul, along with a sense of knowing that all is as it is intended to be.

An old soul is gentle and patient far, far more often than not.  An old soul is okay with their appearance and station in life, not needing to put others down or criticize just to feel better.  An old soul has a deep understanding that life is a gift to be appreciated and enjoyed.  Such a blessing to be on this planet; an old soul knows not to take life for granted and to enjoy the journey.  Quinton showed us this as he thoroughly enjoyed playing.  Such an old soul, at times when I played catch with him, whether it be with a baseball or football, I had the distinct sense that he did so more for me than for him.  Otherwise, he would play with his friends for hours and hours, making up games as they ran through the forest and jumped on the trampoline.

An old soul lives in a place of unconditional love, not needing anything from others in order to love them fully.  Do you know that feeling?  I had forgotten until I held my daughter Cheyanne the first time and now again when in the presence of my grandson – Salvador Quinton.  That unconditional love thing is, in and of itself, a deep and powerful feeling.  Is this the foundation for being an old soul?

An old soul wishes the best for everyone and is so at peace with himself or herself, that if someone were to strike him/her, they would immediately ask “what is wrong”?  Not a doormat, but with deep empathy for others.  Quinton showed us this as well.

For an old soul, forgiveness and being non-judgmental, are not box-checking exercises.  Do you know what I mean?  They don’t have to think to themselves, well, this is what I am supposed to do so I will try to be forgiving and try to be non-judgmental; they just know it and live it.  From that perspective, many of our children are born with this knowledge, only to have it stamped out by us parents and/or by society, but old souls are unfazed more often than not.  Far more often.

Can you feel it?  The peace, certainty and love; it comes from our hearts, right out of our chest as it emanates out.  It does not come from our minds; we can get lost in there, can’t we?  We have to feel it.  We know when it feels right and we know when it feels wrong.  Still, when there is something wrong with me, whether it be fear or anger – I feel it first in my chest.  I suspect that an old soul doesn’t have those feelings and if by chance they do, the feeling dissipates into nothingness with deep breathing, a knowing smile, and knowledge that the negative vibe was a momentary illusion only designed to let us know we still have a little more work to do.

In all honesty, all of us are on the same path and but at different points.  I tell you the truth.  I have read so much that speaks this truth as this knowledge is everywhere if you seek it.  And along this path, once we evolved to a truly old soul place, we may not even have to come back for more, choosing to help those still on the journey from the other side or choosing, like Quinton, to do so in the flesh for a short time, then continuing to do so from the other side.
There is purpose in this journey for each of us as individuals and even within our family units.  I look at my wife, Kristine; clearly, she is in my life to help, show and teach me. She has, for so much of our marriage, stood patiently by my side, supporting me, guiding me, showing me the way (while she must have at times wondered – Really?  Come on, Ernie – you can get there too).

As do we all – eventually.

I wish you all the best and feel free to contact me if you have questions.  Dialogue is good.  Each of us is both teacher and student.

New Book Recommendations:
Gatekeeper of the Invisible Door by Jake Samoyedny

Jake Samoyedney, the Compassionate Medium, has written a new book that contains stories of validation and healing from many of the parents of Helping Parents Heal.  Irene Vouvalides, Vice President, Conference Director and Affiliate Leader of Helping Parents Heal writes: "The amazing stories of validation that Jake Samoyedny has witnessed in his gift of mediumship will show how connecting with loved ones in spirit can transform you and your journey with grief."

This project of love from medium Jake Samoyedny walks you through the stories of parents and their children who have passed from this physical world into Spirit. Through a medium's connection these children in spirit, regardless of how they physically passed, provide meaningful evidence in the form of feelings, stories, pictures, sounds, and more, to their families. As the spirit communicators paint their stories back to life for their loved ones, they consistently affirm that the love bond remains between this world and the spirit world. The author also offers some thoughts on grieving and how we can all help those who are grieving. Additional stories of the remarkable connections and communications medium Jake Samoyedny has witnessed between those in spirit and their loved ones on earth provide further validation of this incredible bond of love.

New Group!  Helping Parents Heal - Bay Area
Marilene Madsen and her son Kevin, Beverly Wilson and her son Mason

About Marilene:
My name is Marilene Madsen,  the mother of Kevin Madsen. My husband Tom and I raised two boys. Kevin the oldest, and Gustavo, 15 months younger. The boys were best friends... So much love! We were walking on this beautiful path... Kevin was 16, a kind(pretty good for a teen), happy, strong football player. Then, our world crashed on December 2014.

Kevin was diagnosed with a rare cancer on his left leg. Rhabdomyosarcoma. After battling this ugly disease, giving all he had, gracefully, Kevin passed away on June 27, 2018.  Since then, we have been looking for answers, for comfort, for peace,  a place to be... We found Helping Parents Heal. And it’s helping!  We are very grateful for it.

About Beverly:
I’m a mother of 5 magical children, one in heaven & four on earth. My husband James & I have been left broken-hearted since our firstborn son, Mason at 19 years of age, died of osteosarcoma in November 2018. He showed incredible strength & unconditional love for his family & friends throughout his life & illness. In his memory, we have created a family fund & raised money for osteosarcoma research. This very rare cancer is aggressive in need of new treatments as the standard protocol is 40 years old & unchanged. I feel so blessed to have been his mother & wish to learn more about spirit & how we can continue our love beyond this life.

Joining other bereaved parents & people who are experiencing this indescribably hard loss is healing to all. Feeling inspired to give hope & comfort to our hurting hearts by coming together with HPH to serve the SF Bay Area communities. Meetings will start on August 25th from 10-12 pm, Danville Grange, 743 Diablo Road, Danville, CA, 94526

New Group!  Helping Parents Heal - Portland
Annie and Marc Adams

About Marc and Annie:

Marc and Annie are parents to Ben (21) and Zenzi, a foREVer 15-year-old.  Zenzi transitioned March 30, 2018, from complications from leukemia diagnosed just 4 days earlier.  Amongst the tears, shock, and disbelief, we were each always open to the signs sent and received from Spirit.  Each of us are on our own personal journey yet realize it is through love and connection that we will heal and create peace as we live out our days in Earth School.  It is our goal to create safe, open and inviting spaces for parents to connect with each other, to connect with Spirit and to learn more about what it truly means to be a Shining Light Parent.

They will hold meetings at their home every third Thursday of the month.

New Group!  Helping Parents Heal - Torrance
Lin Dobie of Helping Parents Heal - Torrance

About Lin:
My beautiful and oldest son, Ryan, crossed over February 25, 2019 unexpectedly and tragically at the age of 26. He had a huge heart and was loved by so many. This loss shook me to the core and awoke such a deep spirituality in me that I didn’t know existed. Previously, I studied (more like dabbled in) reiki, meditation, yoga and energy work. Now I long to know with every cell of my being that my son carries on in spirit and promised him and myself that I would learn how to thrive and find joy again in my life despite my biggest and most devastating loss. This is what led me to HPH. This is my tribe.

The closest HPH group to me was in Ventura, a couple of hours away. I have found that the individuals that support HPH are uplifting, hopeful and helpful individuals that have given me hope that I will once again thrive in my life. I am embarking in the start-up of an HPH group in my area in order to help myself and others become shining light parents by collectively supporting each other and participating in various healing methodologies.

New Group!  Helping Parents Heal - Coachella Valley

Vickie Ruff and her son Garrett

About Vickie:
April 30, 2018, we celebrated Garrett’s 32nd birthday. He told me his life was perfect, he found true love and was planning to get married. Garrett was the happiest I have seen him In years. We had a wonderful birthday celebration. The next day, May 1, 2018, Garrett came home from work and texted his fiancé at 5:30. She told him she was still working and would call when she got off. She called at 6:08 but he never answered. She figured he fell asleep. Garrett died with the game controller in his hand as he laid on his bed. Garrett had a heart attack. Unknown to us, he had an enlarged heart. Garrett’s body was found by two of his good friends, on May 2nd. I received the call no parent ever wants to receive. A few days past, as I cried myself to sleep, I felt a kiss on my left cheek. I thought it was my husband but he was in another room. I know it was my Garrett saying goodbye. I know there is life after death. Unaware as a child, but as I look back on my life, I have had several encounters and conversations. My son has made contact with me and I have received several messages. I know and feel his presence around me.

Helping Parents Heal - San Diego
The Parents and artwork of Helping Parents Heal - San Diego

For our San Diego July Meeting, Francesca Heyer, affiliate member and artist, introduced us to intuitive painting. A sunny day of 75º made the decision to paint on the lanai a no-brainer. We each began with a short meditation to ask our children to join us for inspiration, followed by expert instruction from Francesca. Helped along by bossa nova background music and a few sips from the vine, we donned our aprons, filled our palettes with paints, and set about to joyously create.

We used masking tape on our first layer of paint, then left our canvasses in the sun to dry while we repaired to the kitchen for a lovely lunch of salads and sandwiches. Next, we stripped off the tape, leaving spaces for words of special meaning, small colored hearts, and even glitter! We left the second layer to dry while we enjoyed some conversation enhanced by ice cream and caffè. By the time our paintings were done, everyone agreed that we needed to do this again!

Thank you, Francesca, for driving one and a half hours with your van loaded with canvasses and painting supplies to lead us on this inspiring journey! Next time, we will come to your house.

What I really love about this is that each of us now has a painting of our own, created with the love of our children; something that we’ll treasure forever.

Helping Parents Heal - Parents of Children with Special Needs
Margaret Meder - Shining Light Mom and EVP Specialist

The August 5, 2019, Helping Parents Heal – Parents of Children with Special Needs meeting had Margaret Meder, mother of Shining Light and Ambassador of Joy, Evan, speak to the group regarding her work with EVPs. Margaret had gone into an EVP session with Evan prior to the meeting and was able to present beautiful recordings of our children. One child clearly said, “It’s pretty up here!” Another said, “Yes, I spotted them there!” We had several voices we could hear.

After the meeting, shining light mom Chrissy Noel Feola-Thau told us she knew it was her son Nick who was communicating via EVP, saying “a star” in a child’s voice speaking German, as his grandmother in spirit spoke German and tried teaching the children when they were little. She has looked at a particular star every night for the last four months and asked Nick, “Is that you Nick looking over us?” Nick was surely answering his mom!

Margaret explained how she learned this process from Sheri Perl’s presentation at the HPH Conference in 2018, and has been working with it ever since, producing amazing conversations with her son Evan and other children. Our children love technology, and even more so, love communicating with us. This was a really amazing night. Thank you to Margaret Meder for a beautiful presentation. Mostly, thank you to Evan and all our AMAZING kids. Please join our group if your shining light child had special needs, and join our meeting September 9, where the wonderful Christine Salter will bring through messages from our children.

Helping Parents Heal - Flagstaff
Janean Bentley-Quigley and her son Sean, Dana Middlebrook and her son Cole

Flagstaff HPH met on August 4th with 9 in attendance. We shared recent signs from our kids, read from Suzanne Giesemann's book "In the Silence" the message for today's date. We did the "10 min transformation meditation" from Suzanne's website and then shared some more. Many are approaching or have just had angelversaries and so they were struggling. All agreed that having people to talk to with the same burden makes it lighter. We talked about forgiveness which is a tough one but all agreed that that is one of the keys to eventually lightening the grief and thus allowing for our kids to bring us messages.

Helping Parents Heal - Coldwater Creek, MILouise's Daughter Jillian's Two-Sided Angel Light, Louise Nelson Crist

I didn't take pictures, but we had our first Helping Parents Heal Coldwater, Michigan chapter meeting July 15th. There were fifteen in attendance. (Another five planned to come, but had to back out at the last minute...you know how grief is...) I think it went very well. We did an introduction, with pictures, of our children, talked about what HPH is and how it started, how to get online and join, and where to find support. I planned for 90 minutes, it lasted about 2 hours, and people were still talking in the parking lot. We had 5 dads in attendance, which is awesome, as well as 3 grandparents. (the forgotten mourners...)

Our kids passed from car accidents, overdoses, suicides, hit and runs, Muscular Dystrophy, killed in combat, and 2 that just went to sleep and never woke up. We were anywhere from 3 months to 29 years out from our losses. It was a good mix of newbies and more seasoned grievers. I picked the topic of "How many kids do you have?" and "Why aren't you back to normal yet?" as our discussion questions.

I think that between now and our next meeting, I will write topics that we commonly encounter on a slip of paper and draw from a hat at the meetings for discussions. I also want everyone to bring their "one thing" that gives them comfort...a poem, a book, a memory blanket, a teddy bear made from their children's clothing, an angel light, etc... to show the others.

Everyone wants to come back, and wants monthly meetings. I have a lending library and others will bring things that have helped them to lend out as well. Towards the holidays, we may work on some simple crafts, such as wreaths or angel lights. Many of us do "grave blankets" the first Saturday in December. We may also try to do a potluck on Compassionate Friends Worldwide Candlelighting day, which is the second Sunday in December at 7 p.m. all around the world.

The group let them know how amazing and healing it is connecting with our kids thru mediums!

Stories of Validation-

Brian Smith's Validation with Zoe, Kayla and Shayna
Zoe, Stevie and Shayna

Our 14-year-old lab mix began slowing down a few months ago. I knew the day that we would have to say goodbye was coming soon. I could not bring myself to let her go. She was no longer able to go up and down the steps to the deck. Her legs would give out on her, and she would collapse to the floor. On Tuesday, we took her to the vet to see if there was anything we could do to help her. What we were told is what we knew. She was a 60 pound (down to 53 pounds due to muscle loss), almost 15-year-old dog. Her body was preparing to go home. The gray hair, cataracts, the hearing loss all told the tale that I turned a blind eye to. The seizures were what finally woke me up to reality. By Thursday Zoe was so bad I knew it was only a matter of a few days. I happened to have scheduled a reading with a medium in training. We scheduled it a few weeks ago. Thursday was an incredibly difficult day for me. I had this reading and a meeting scheduled for the afternoon. Zoe was in her room. She couldn't get up to get out of it and spend the day in my office or Tywana's office. I avoided walking by her door knowing she'd look up at me with eyes that seemed to say, "How much longer are we going to do this, Daddy?" The medium reading opened with Andy saying to me, "I saw you before we got on the Zoom. You were in a room, with falling red hearts. They are all shades of red." She continued, "I see in your aura an almost heartache. This is a heartache that isn't here yet. But, you know it's coming. You are going to have a conversation about it." I broke down in tears. She told me, "The spirit world is at the ready. This is the greatest gift you can give. I see fur hugs all around you. Fur hugs." On Friday, I had to carry Zoe out of the house to get her to pee. She collapsed, trying to get back into the house. I heard a voice say to Tywana, "It's time." The voice was mine. We made arrangements to take Zoe in the following morning. We had a full day of moving Kayla, my 22-year-old daughter, into her new house. Zoe took precedence though. We didn't want her to suffer one day longer than necessary. Zoe made a peaceful, quick transition. After we left the vet's office, Kayla told us that she saw Shayna in the corner of the room, waiting to greet Zoe. I had told Shayna that morning that she better be there to greet Zoe. I was elated to hear this from Kayla. I spent the rest of the day at Kayla's house assembling her IKEA furniture. It had been an exhausting day, physically and emotionally. I nearly quit and opted to finish on Sunday. But, I wanted to get it done and finished up. When I got home, I saw a Facebook notice that Cyrus Kirkpatrick was hosting an event with Susanne Wilson on Sunday. Since I got the furniture done on Saturday, I penciled it in on my calendar. I'd attend if I were up to it. I had been trying to reach Susanne to tell her about my book because she had encouraged me to write it several times. Also, in my first real medium reading, three years ago, she told me I would be working with Victor Zammit. I was in the Friday Afterlife Report this very week. I wanted to give her the validation of her reading. Sunday rolled around, and I connected to the Zoom. I quickly told Susanne about my book and the Afterlife Report. She and Cyrus did their interview, and it was time for questions and answers. Usually, I would hang back and let others ask questions. And, I already knew the answer to my question. I just had to hear her say it. I asked, "Susanne, I had to put my dog to sleep yesterday. I've heard that when people cross over their pets are there to greet them. Have you ever heard that when a pet crosses over, their human is there to greet them?" She assured me this happens. Then, she paused, and a quizzical look came over her face. She asked if I saw Zoe's soul as it left her body because she was being told that I experienced her crossing. I had prayed for a shared crossing experience. I didn't get it directly. But, at one point, I felt like Zoe's soul passed through me. Susanne described it as a not going up but going through a "whoosh." This is precisely what I felt. She said she saw Shayna with braids rubbing her braids across Zoe as Zoe lay on her lap. Then, she said, "Shayna says she was in the corner of the room." I was floored. Shayna in the corner was exactly the way Kayla had described it. It's been three days since Zoe crossed. The grief comes in waves. I am grateful for her life, love, and loyalty. I will miss her tremendously. But, even during all of the pain, I am glad that I am open to see how the universe continues to support me. The timing of the reading with Andy was no coincidence. The timing of the meeting with Susanne was no coincidence. And the message of validation of Shayna being there in the room brings me great comfort by letting me know for certain my two girls are together!

Paola Leslie's Validation with Jake Samoyedny
Jake Samoyedny and Nicholas Leslie

Two years ago, I had a reading with Suzanne Giesemann.  The reading was beautiful and full of evidence. Towards the end of the reading,  Suzanne told us that Nicolas was showing her that in the future he was going to be part of a book.  This book she said would be written by somebody else, not by my husband or I.  Suzanne said,  " Watch for this event to unfold".

Time passed and after a while, I had a new reading with Jake Samoyedny.  Nicolas had a strong connection with Jake, and the reading was just amazing. At the end of the reading, Jake told us that he was very touched from Nick's energy and story and he asked us permission to include his story in one of his upcoming books.

Jake's new book "Gatekeeper of the Invisible Door" just came out (please see lower right column under 'Recommended Reading'), and Nicolas' story is part of this beautiful collection of true stories from children in the Spirit World.  Suzanne's message from  Nicolas about the book became a reality!  Jake's book is very touching and emotional.  While I was reading it, I felt lots of love for our children in the Spiritual World and for us, parents that share this life difficult path together.  I'm amazed and grateful at how far our kids will go to make sure we know that they are still living and still very much part of our lives.  I imagine that they are working together from different angles to send us messages of love and hope.  Our children are doing some heavy lifting for us. Thank you, Jake and Suzanne, for being the voice of our children and connecting their world to ours.  Thank you to all of our beautiful children on the other side for the valuable work they are doing to help us during this very difficult journey.   I'm sure that our children are proud of all the shining light parents, and are smiling from heaven.

Would you like to share a story of validation or healing with other Parents? We are all able to heal when we share personal stories about our children with others.  Moreover, everyone benefits from validations that we receive from our children.  We love to hear about them!  If you have a story that you would like to share about your child, please let us know and we will include it in a future newsletter.  Please send it to Elizabeth Boisson at elizabeth@helpingparentsheal.org (Due to space limitations, please be sure it is no longer than 500-600 words.)

Mission Statement of Helping Parents Heal: Our mission is to help bereaved parents, giving them support and resources to aid in the healing process. We will go a step beyond other groups by allowing the open discussion of spiritual experiences and evidence for the Afterlife in a non-dogmatic way. In other words, we will welcome everyone regardless of their religious (or non-religious) background and allow for a very open type of dialog. We receive all and do not judge people or their children on the basis of life choices. -Mark Ireland, Cofounder, Helping Parents Heal
