The United Nations has declared famine in South Sudan.
War and a collapsing economy have left 100,000 people facing starvation and 1 million people are classified as being on the brink of famine.
This famine was not caused by drought or other natural phenomena, but by humans. That means humans are also the solution.
The students at Abukloi Secondary School have a motto:
Everyday they are learning how to solve one of the most pressing problems in their country: Food security. Through the school, students are learning how to develop sustainable farms to provide food for their communities. In January, local women harvested the first crops from Nancy's Garden, an Abukloi sponsored project, providing enough food for their families and selling the surplus at the local market for the larger community.
Your continuing donations go directly to these life saving gardens.
In fact, 100% of your donation goes directly to funding the school.
