The National Library of Medicine® (NLM) is pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for the 2022-2023 EnHIP Outreach and Engagement Awards. The purpose of the awards is to enhance the capacity of minority-serving academic institutions to advance health equity through the access, use, and delivery of NLM and/or NIH/HHS information resources and services on campuses and in communities.

Why Is Their Blood Sugar Doing That?
Solving Glucose Mysteries Workshop

The Association of Diabetes Care & Education Specialists welcomes all health professionals who help clients with diabetes to attend this special program held at the Prince Waikīkī Hotel. This workshop will offer CE credits. In this one-day conference we will review the latest medications used for the treatment of Type 2 Diabetes, discuss how to calculate insulin doses for patients including those on insulin pumps, discuss management strategies for patients with difficult to control diabetes (both Type 1 and 2), and discuss how childhood experiences impact management of health.

The objectives of this conference are to:
• Understand the importance and lived experiences of first generation to college students in health professions education
• Identify strategies for supporting first generation to college health professions’ students through visibility awareness, career development, and mentoring.
• Consider strategies for participants to understand and improve or develop their own institutional first generation to college initiatives in the health professions.
