Sunday, July 14th

the Fifth Sunday after Pentecost

9:00 AM-- HOLY EUCHARIST, RITE I
10:15 AM-- COFFEE HOUR in the COMMON ROOM

         OLD TESTAMENT: Amos 7: 7-17
         PSALM: 82
         NEW TESTAMENT: Colossians 4: 1-14
         GOSPEL: Luke10: 25- 37

O Lord, mercifully receive the prayers of your people who call upon you, and grant that they may know and understand what things they ought to do, and also may have grace and power faithfully to accomplish them; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

This Sunday is the fifth Sunday after Pentecost. On Sundays from now until September 1, we gather each week to Celebrate Eucharist at 9:00 am. Summertime Coffee Hour follows each week downstairs. Please remember to adjust your summer schedule on Sundays so you don't arrive too early or too late!

In the Hebrew Scriptures, we read in Amos how God called the prophet Amos to call the people to repentance. He taught Amos to see in everyday signs the presence and hand go God, both in justice and redemption.

In the New Testament, Paul writes to the Colossians of his continual prayers for all of them, for the good work begun among them. May you be made strong with all the strength that comes from his glorious power, and may you be prepared to endure everything with patience, while joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has enabled you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the light.

In Luke's gospel, a man asks Jesus whom he should regard as a neighbor. Jesus offers the Parable of the Good Samaritan, a story that has made its way into Western thought and language, influencing how we often think of those who choose to do justly and mercifully.

No nursery care during the summer. Based on the current needs of the parish, we are not offering nursery care during the summer. If you are in need of childcare during worship, please contact Fr. Jay, Fr. Dan, or CE Chair Martina Stippler.

Summer Coffee Hour continues this Sunday. Coffee Hour is much simpler in the summer, with sparkling water, tea or lemonade, coffee from our Kuerig machine, and cookies or simple snacks. We still need volunteers for some of July and August. Please sign up on the bulletin board in the Common Room.

Pictures from Good Shepherd’s work
at B-SAFE this week. This mission of the Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts gives children of working parents a safe and engaging environment during the summer. And Good Shepherd is always grateful to be a part.
Our capital campaign for the renovation of Good Shepherd's downstairs space, "Building on the Sure Foundation," is making good progress. The kitchen, the two restrooms, the first and second grade classroom, and the nursery, are being rejuvenated. The two restrooms are also now handicapped accessible.
Both fundraising and renovations are progressing well. Our goal for this effort is $75,000, and at present we are almost to our goal. Please consider prayerfully what you can give, and please make your gift or pledge soon.
PLEASE NOTE: Renovations are nearing completion, and some spaces are available as renovations complete.
Some spaces may still be unavailable. Look for signage regarding spaces involved in the renovation. And note: restrooms are now single-use, gender neutral, and handicapped accessible.
Please sign up to host Coffee Hour one Sunday during the summer.

Summer Coffee Hour is much simpler. Sparkling water, tea or lemonade, and coffee from the Kuerig machine make for a simple yet lovely time of fellowship for those who worship with us. Please sign up in the Common Room.
I come with joy to meet my Lord,
forgiven loved and freed,

in awe and wonder to declare,
his life laid down for me.
