Updated At All Times and in All Places-- Your Regathering Committee is working diligently to ensure that all events at Good Shepherd follow strict guidance regarding the most up-to-date information on protecting parishioners and preventing spread of the virus. Our Regathering Committee has scheduled Sunday, November 1st, All Saints Sunday, as our final outdoor service for the season. Updated guidelines, effective November 1st, such as the masking of singers and updated pattern for receiving communion, are included here.  Sunday's worship on the Good Shepherd Green, weather permitting, follows previous patterns.

Time Change is this weekend-- remember to fall back.

All Saints Sunday-- this Sunday, November 1st. In addition to our worship at 9:00 and 10:30, we will gather at 10:00 in the Memorial Garden to offer thanks for the great cloud of witnesses, especially those buried at Good Shepherd and others named by our parish community.

Confirmation Recognition and Celebration-- All Saints at 10:30 am.  (We will make a final determination on this service Saturday afternoon at 4:00 pm based on weather and outside conditions.) Though our bishops do not offer the sacramental rite of Confirmation at this time, they encourage us to recognize those who would have been confirmed but for the pandemic. On our last Sunday on the Good Shepherd Green, we will recognize, celebrate, and pray for our 2020 confirmands, using a "Commitment to Christian Service" in the Book of Occasional Service. A festive though intentionally-cautious coffee hour will follow on the GS Green. Please note: this service, if outside, continues to follow our pattern and practices for outdoor worship.

Stewardship Season Begins-- November brings our annual stewardship campaign for 2021, We Will with God's Help. These words from the baptismal covenant remind us of our commitment to endeavors that are beyond us, but which we embrace through the hope of divine support. The new year will bring with it both challenges and opportunities for our parish. Your Vestry, along with Stewardship Co-Chairs Biz and Troy Bracher, will lead us in this endeavor to support all that is important to Good Shepherd in the new year.
This video is for all children, both those who engage remotely and those who attend Sunday School in the Loring Room.

Angels Ascending and Descending:

Handicapped Accessibility at Good Shepherd
The outdoor portico, which will offer ground-level access to the elevator, is now framed. Here you see the progress as well as the proud construction workers.
Click here to view Angels Ascending and Descending, a plan to achieve 100% accessibility at Good Shepherd. At a total cost of $500,000 and with a beautiful, compassionate proposal secured, your Vestry asks you to consider prayerfully your support of this plan.

We continue to receive support and pledges while construction is underway.

Frumentum-- Communion at Home for older and at-risk parishioners

Frumentum
, from the Latin word meaning wheat, is an ancient practice of the church, bringing items of Holy Communion to those separated from the life of the church, so that all can receive bread and wine on Sundays simultaneously.

With the blessing of our Bishop, Good Shepherd will offer Frumentum to members of our parish who cannot attend public gatherings for the foreseeable future. Volunteers from Good Shepherd will deliver consecrated bread and wine to you, or you can pick up items at the church, keep them in your home, and receive them on Sunday mornings while taking part in our online worship.

Please contact the Rector directly to request Frumentum, by calling the parish office or via e-mail at
rector@goodshepherdnewton.org. Initially we will consecrate bread and wine for delivery on Sunday, September 13, so that Communion will be available beginning Sunday, September 20. Please specify the number of people who will receive so that we can deliver enough consecrated bread and wine for approximately four Sundays. Subsequent deliveries will occur next month.

Additional information about keeping the sacrament in your home and how to receive items will be provided to those who request Frumentum.
