Almighty God, whom truly to know is everlasting life: Grant us so perfectly to know your Son Jesus Christ to be the way, the truth, and the life, that we may steadfastly follow his steps in the way that leads to eternal life; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

This Sunday is the Fifth Sunday in Easter. In our lection from Acts, we read the story of Peter and his famous dream about eating unclean foods. His dream was about eating foods different than his Jewish upbringing would have allowed, but through he soon realized that the dream encouraged him to see as part of Christ's body those who were outside his expectations. "Do not call unclean what I have called clean." In John's gospel, we return to the Last Supper, where Jesus gives the New Commandment to love as he has loved. We worship at 8:00 and 10:00.

Building on the Sure Foundation Please be on the lookout for information on our modest capital campaign to renovate the downstairs restrooms, children's classrooms, and the kitchen. As of writing, we have received just over $22,000 in support. Thank you!

Adult Forum in Eastertide continues this Sunday at 11:45. During the season of Easter (through June 2nd), Adult Forum will be exploring different celebrations and practices that shape our understanding of the Paschal Mystery. This week we will follow up on the term "Paschal Mystery" and see how it has influenced the liturgy and music that we use.

Agape Celebration May 22 Our final Agape Celebration of the school year, at 6:00 in the Common Room. We will celebrate the Feast of Jackson Kemper, the first missionary bishop in the Episcopal Church. Our theme is "Western, Waban style." Please contact Pia Bertelli regarding food.

Sunday, May 26th the Feast of St. Seersucker, the bi-annual feast of the patron saint of summer. Dress in your finest seersucker.

Pentecost Sunday, June 9th Pentecost Sunday, on which we celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit, falls fifty days after Easter-- this year on June 9th. This year we will celebrate the graduation of our seniors, say thank you to those who have supported Christian Education during the year, honor Chez Valentine on her graduation from BC's School of Theology and Ministry and gather on the Good Shepherd Green for our parish picnic. Mark your calendars! And wear red.

See you Sunday! peace, Jay+

The Vestry is excited to announce a capital campaign for the renovation of Good Shepherd's downstairs space, called "Building on the Sure Foundation." The kitchen, the two restrooms, the first and second grade classroom, and the nursery will be rejuvenated. The two restrooms will also be made handicapped accessible.
Please join us on Sunday, May 12th, during coffee hour, to see the work that we are undertaking. Our goal for this effort is to raise $75,000. Please consider prayerfully what you can give, and please make your gift in May or June of this year.
PLEASE NOTE: Renovations have begun on the downstairs restrooms. Downstairs restrooms, as well as the nursery, are not accessible.

Childcare is available Sundays in the Loring Room. During renovations, the restroom across from the Atrium will be the only available facility.
This past Sunday, our children's service brought a special joy to all of our parish. Thank you to all who worked and volunteered to make the service possible. Special thanks to Chez Valentine, who works with our children, for her beautiful sermon during the service.
Good Shepherd is in search of its next Coffee Hour chair. Would you be willing to schedule coffee hour for us? It is a valuable ministry and supports the wider life of Good Shepherd on Sundays. Please speak to Fr. Jay or Biz Bracher.
Mark your calendars:
Good Shepherd, through our Outreach ministry, will volunteer with B-SAFE on July 10-12.

We will provide lunch at Sts. A&M on Wednesday and Thursday, and on Friday we will support the field trip to Lake Cochituate. Contact Marilyn Crone for more details.
O what their joy
and their glory must be,

those endless Sabbaths
the blessed ones see;
crown for the valiant,

to weary ones rest:
God shall be all,
and in all ever blest.
