Almighty and everlasting God, you have given to us your servants grace, by the confession of a true faith, to acknowledge the glory of the eternal Trinity, and in the power of your divine Majesty to worship the Unity: Keep us steadfast in this faith and worship, and bring us at last to see you in your one and eternal glory, O Father; who with the Son and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

This Sunday is Trinity Sunday. Trinity comes each year at the beginning of Ordinary Time. Its place on the Christian Calendar, the first Sunday after Pentecost, dates to the fourteenth century, though a Sunday devoted to honor the triune Mystery dates as far back as the Arian Controversy in the third century. (Arian denied the Trinity, arguing instead for a Christianity in keeping with the Monotheist tradition, and thus a specific celebration of the Trinity marks a rebuttal in the Patristic Era to combat this heresy, called Arianism.)

Our scriptures this week paint an interesting picture of the Trinity. In our reading from Proverbs, Wisdom (the female, creative, seductive face of God) explores her own role in Creation, claiming to have been a part of God from the beginning. Romans and John explore the unique role of both grace and truth given to us in Christ through the gift of the Spirit.

Our preacher this Sunday is Chesirae Valentine, who will speak in some part about her Master's Thesis at BC, in which she explored images of the Trinity in modern life.

Building on the Sure Foundation We are making excellent progress in our modest capital campaign to renovate the downstairs restrooms, children's classrooms, and the kitchen. As of writing, we have received just over $51,500 in support, both in giving and in pledges. This puts us near seventy percent of our goal, but with work yet to do. Please consider donating or making a pledge by the end of June. Thank you!

Downstairs Renovations are nearing completion. The restrooms and the nursery, though not finished, are now ready for use.

Summer Schedule begins on Sunday, June 23rd. We will worship on Sundays at 9:00 am beginning on June 23 and throughout the summer. Our final 9:00 service will be the Sunday before Labor Day, September 1st.

Summer Coffee Hour begins next Sunday, June 23. Coffee Hour is much simpler in the summer, with sparkling water, tea or lemonade, coffee from our Kuerig machine, and cookies or simple snacks. Please sign up in the Common Room to host one Sunday.

See you Sunday!

peace, Jay+

Our capital campaign for the renovation of Good Shepherd's downstairs space, "Building on the Sure Foundation," is making good progress. The kitchen, the two restrooms, the first and second grade classroom, and the nursery, are being rejuvenated. The two restrooms are also now handicapped accessible.
Both fundraising and renovations are progressing well. Our goal for this effort is $75,000, and at present we are approximately 70% toward our goal. Please consider prayerfully what you can give, and please make your gift or pledge by the end of June.
PLEASE NOTE: Renovations are nearing completion, and some spaces are available as renovations complete.
Some spaces may still be unavailable. Look for signage regarding spaces involved in the renovation. And note: restrooms are now single-use, gender neutral, and handicapped accessible.
Trinity Sunday-- June 16th this year-- is a major feast of the Christian year. This year on Trinity, we will honor our choir as they complete another year leading us in worship. The music on Trinity Sunday offers us a brilliance and beauty that helps us to honor and appreciate the Holy Other that lives beyond us.
Our summer schedule begins on Sunday, June 23, and lasts until Sunday, September 1. Each Sunday, we will have one Eucharist with hymns at 9:00 am.
Please sign up to host Coffee Hour one Sunday during the summer.

Summer Coffee Hour is much simpler. Sparkling water, tea or lemonade, and coffee from the Kuerig machine make for a simple yet lovely time of fellowship for those who worship with us. Please sign up in the Common Room.
Mark your calendars:

Good Shepherd, through our Outreach ministry, will volunteer with B-SAFE on July 10-12.

We will provide lunch at Sts. A&M on Wednesday and Thursday, and on Friday we will support the field trip to Lake Cochituate. Contact Marilyn Crone for more details.
I bind unto myself today
the strong Name of the Trinity,

by invocation of the same:
the Three in One and One in Three.
Of whom all nature hath Creation,

Eternal Father, Spirit, Word,
praise to the God of my Salvation,
salvation is of Christ the Lord.
