New Works on Paper by Kathy Smith

November 2, 5 to 7 pm, Artist talk at 6 pm

Bold assemblages of ink, wax, and papers, mounted on boards or hanging from wooden rods, Kathy Smith's show of new work opens November 2.  Smith says, “These works were begun two years ago, during the time of the autumn equinox. They celebrate the duality of darkness and light, and the balance between night and day. They are a loose assemblage of transparency, texture, composition, memory, poetry, dreams, and sense of place.”

Ellis Paul and Radoslav Lorkovic

in concert November 9, 8pm

Ellis Paul and Radoslav LorkovicLongtime friends, internationally-touring folk/blues musicians Ellis Paul and Radoslav Lorkovic hit Homer for a duo show in early November. Rad paints a vibrant blue landscape on piano and accordian; Ellis’ cavorts about on guitar and vocals with smart, funny songwriting. These two seasoned musicians love playing together but have not done so in Homer previously. Don’t miss two amazing musicians for the price of one $20 ticket.

Red Hot Patriot

a play that explodes with politics and wit

Nov 16, 17 at 7:30 pm & Nov 18th matinee at 3pm

Red Hot Patriot“If you like your politics liberal and biting, here’s a show for you from Cyrano’s Playhouse,” - Bill McAlliser, KTVA, Anchorage.

Alaskan actor Elizabeth Ware portrays the late newspaper columnist Molly Ivins in Red Hot Patriot, a one-woman show full of scathing political observation. Molly Ivins was known for her withering descriptions of politicians all the way from the Texas state capitol to the White House.  Actress Elizabeth Ware, under the direction of her husband, David Edgecombe, portrays the feisty Texan. Ware said, "I’ve told just about everybody it's more fun that I’ve ever had on stage."

The 80-minute show runs Nov. 16 & 17 at 7:30 and Nov. 18 at 3 pm. Admission: $15 suggested / pay as you can. This play sold out in Anchorage!
