Wave Sculpture

Rebecca Newnham

Wave Sculpture

WAVE is a commissioned 15 meter floating sculpture, it considers the frequencies and waves of information which invisibly surround us. It's red because in the spectrum of visible light, that's the most comparable wavelength; blue wavelengths are much closer together for example.

The trial float at Mudeford on Saturday 9th March went really well. Please click on the various links below to see how it went:

Mudeford Bay is tidal and t
he flow of the water drew the sculpture into curves which gradually altered, responding to the environment.

WAVE will be installed at http://www.himalayangarden.com/ on 23rd March in North Yorkshire, we will update you with images and video later in the month.

Launch at Hengistbury.

Mudeford Bay, Dorset is a very inspirational location in which we have photographed many of Rebecca's pieces, including LAUNCH.

It was a clear, sunny January day, so we took LAUNCH to Hengistbury on the South Coast for a photoshoot.

LAUNCH is 2.2m tall, and follows on from the FLEDGE; INCREMENTS OF FLIGHT sculptures. This body of work considers stages of flight, in particular bird flight. The swans Rebecca observed which inform the works inhabit the freshwater bay here.
