The Financial Materiality of
Biodiversity Loss

Nature is indispensable. Without it, goods and services would not be able to materialize. In fact, USD44 trillion of economic value generated each year is moderately or highly dependent on nature. This is more than 50% of global GDP. Today, land degradation costs the world USD6.3 trillion, equivalent to 7.3% of global GDP each year and it happens hugely because financial materiality of the degradation is not factored into decision making. Restoring land and preventing further soil degradation is critical for food security and tackling climate change.

Food Systems Carbon Footprint
has been Vastly Underestimated

As the title of the article suggests, we have all been vastly underestimating the food systems' carbon footprint and over the years, we've been burying the emissions into other categories.

However, the new analysis offers a more "integrated approach across every part of what it takes to get food from the field to fork and into the trash bin", confirming that what we eat and how food is grown is pivotal to solving the climate crisis.
