Hollywood Superstars, all gathered together
About Comics is exploiting this brief moment of quiet between all the San Diego announcements and the box office tallies for this coming weekend's comic book-based blockbuster to announce that they've unleashed on the world a trade paperback collection of Hollywood Superstars, Mark Evanier and Dan Spiegle's series about an unlikely trio to Tinseltown detectives.
Originally published by Marvel's Epic Comics imprint, Hollywood Superstars tells the tale of a private investigations firm headed by stunt master, staffed by a struggling starlet and an aspiring stand-up comic. They put themselves in danger while dealing with the dark underbelly of the film world: the egomaniacal directors, desperate dreamers, and unsavory folks who will do anything for a buck. All five issues, including the double-length first issue, are reprinted in black-and-white for a mere $9.99.
Acclaimed comics writer Kurt Busiek had this to say about the book: "Hollywood Superstars is a lost treasure. Wry, funny, human and compelling, it's Evanier & Spiegle at the top of their game. I've wanted a collection of this series for years -- and I'm thrilled it's finally here. Don't miss out."
The entire run was written by Mark Evanier and drawn by Dan Spiegle, a creative team known for their collaborations on DC's Blackhawk and on the DNAgents spinoff Crossfire.
Hollywood Superstars (a 7"x10", 148 page black-and-white paperback) is available for immediate ordering through Amazon.com. The book is not being offered through Diamond Comics Distribution; retailers wishing to stock the book can find ordering information at www.AboutComics.com/wholesale.html
