Stephanie Ross has studied and practised Qigong with her trainer Yuan Tze for 3 years and 4 Levels of teacher's training. Stephanie is offering a course to her friends and community.

One of the core components of this course is a Qigong method called Yuan Gong.  Yuan Gong helps us gather Qi (you can think of this as life-force) to improve our health on the physical, emotional and consciousness levels.  It is the easiest and most joyful form of Qigong.

Stephanie will hold an introductory series of classes Wednesday mornings from  9:30-11:30 for 6 weeks starting January 7th at the Creekside Common House (2202 Lambert Drive, Courtenay). Cost:  $120. Contact Stephanie via email at:

As the days grow shorter and the nights longer it is time to celebrate the light that grows when we come together in community.  The faculty would like to invite you to celebrate the light in our community at our annual Advent Spiral.  Each student will have a turn to walk the magical spiral into the center where the sharing light waits, light their own candle and place the candle on a star.  As the stars build up with candles the room begins to glow with the warmth of community.
Soft music, gentle light of candles and the reverence of children and families make this traditional event one of inspiration and harmony.  We are reminded that we are nearing the end of our journey through the darkness, internally and externally, and that light will soon return. This light will bring with it the promise of a new year that we will approach with a renewed sense of self and emerge from the darkness transformed.

The celebration will take place on Friday, December 19th at Creekside Commons in the Common House. There will be no regular classes. Parents please only park in visitor spots marked in blue on the pavement or out on the street. We ask that each family arrives outside the Creekside Common House 10 minutes before their scheduled spiral. Parents can you please dress your children in semi-formal to formal clothing. IParents will be invited to enter and be seated while children line-up with their teacher outside. The schedule for the Advent Spiral is as follows:
  • 9 am    Class 5-6
  • 9:30     Preschool and Parent Child
  • 10 am Kindergarten
  • 10:45   Class 1-2
  • 11:30   Class 3-4
For this celebration please have long hair tied back, avoid long skirts and please help to create a space of reverence by avoiding conversation.
The gift of light we shall thankfully take
But it shall not be alone for our sake.
The more we give light the one to the other
It grows and gives light and shines even farther
Until every heart by love set aflame.
In every place great joy shall proclaim.
Not long shall continue the darkness of year
The light draws near.
