Hand Therapy now at MGS Physiotherapy

Introducing Nicola Cook - our Specialist Hand Therapist 

Nicola Cook is a Specialist Hand Therapist who now manages The MGS Hand Clinic.

She graduated with an Honours Degree in Physiotherapy back in 2000 and in 2003 decided to specialise in Hand Therapy. Nicola is well travelled. She has worked in large teaching hospitals, private practices both in the UK and Sydney and has worked as a university lecturer in the UK.

Hand physiotherapy is an extremely specific specialisation which can help with a long list of conditions including:
.  sports injuries   . wrist and hand fractures  .  finger fractures
.  tendon injuries   .  ligament injuries   . post-operative hand and wrist care
.  tendonitis, tendonosis, tendinopathy  .  carpal tunnel
.  OA - Osteoarthritis and RA - Rheumatoid Arthritis
.  overuse injuries and many many more conditions.

How do I know if I need to ask for a Hand Therapist?

If you have a hand, finger or wrist injury or pain, then our Hand Therapist will be able to help you. Hand therapy generally takes the same amount of time as regular physiotherapy.

Hand Therapy Awareness Week

Hand Therapy Awareness Week is 2nd June to 8th June, 2014.

This week concentrates on promoting the benefits of Hand Therapy which is the specialized treatment of hand and wrist injuries.

Nicola Cook, our new Specialist Hand Therapist, is more than happy to chat with you to help you understand the benefits of Hand Therapy and advise whether it would be of benefit to your condition.

Jenny Doyle - Pilates Instructor

Meet our newest Pilates Instructor, Jenny Doyle. Jenny originally qualified as an Exercise Scientist then went on to obtain a Masters in Physiotherapy in the UK.  Jenny is also a qualified Fitness Professional 

Jenny has a particular interest and skill in Clinical Pilates as well as orthopaedic surgery rehabilation.  Jenny loves to help people return to their chosen and favourite activities quickly following an injury.
