Self Declare for 2020-21 Board Positions
Northshore Council PTSA will be holding its 2020-2021 elections online. Since “nominations from the floor” can’t work as they normally would at an in-person meeting, Northshore Council PTSA is opening up the floor virtually by using an online submission form.  If you are interested in joining the 2020-2021 Northshore Council PTSA Executive Board, now is the time to self declare!

Individuals who would like to nominate themselves for an elected position on Northshore Council PTSA can do so at: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScVQRRHRhudMs2pzExDeMxP1RpfbzLgpyYoXAC8-DzinoqUOA/viewform

Deadline for submission is Friday, April 10th. At the close of the self-nomination period, if there is any contested position we will send out an electronic voting method. If no position is contested, we will hold election by voice vote in our next General Meeting, on Monday, April 20th at 7pm. Find more information on our website.
Help Council Recognize Amazing People!
Every year, Northshore Council PTSA asks for nominations of community members deserving recognition for their efforts and accomplishments in promoting the well-being and education of children in our community! Please take a moment to visit our award nomination form for info on the specific awards and be sure to throw in a name or two (multiple forms can be submitted for multiple people!). In these not-so-fantastic times, it'll be good to share out a little happy!
Submit an Award Nomination!
Nominations close May 1, 2020.
Learn more about recognition awards and see a list of past recipients on our website.

Tip of the Week
Getting PTA Business Done

There are two key items of business that PTAs need to accomplish at membership meetings by the end of the fiscal year:
  •     Approve a budget for the next fiscal year
  •     Hold officer elections
The good news is PTAs CAN conduct meetings virtually – via conference call or video conferencing. WSPTA offers some great information about "Taking Care of Business through Virtual Meetings." In addition, Northshore Council has resources available to help your PTA prepare for a virtual election, including a policy template that your PTA can easily edit and adapt to your needs.

Try to take the time to learn about best practice, meet with your board of directors, decide on the best way forward for your PTA, document that in your minutes and then do what you are able to do in these unprecedented times. Stay safe, stay healthy, and do your best. Remember that Council is also here to help you!
PTA Proud
It is so inspiring to see the many ways our Northshore PTAs are working to support thier school communities! Some recent examples include:
  • Frank Love PTA continues to run its food pantry and serve as a resource for many of their families who have been experiencing hardships related to the closure of schools and non-essential jobs.
  • Skyview Middle School PTSA surveyed its families to see how and where the PTSA could focus its efforts and support those most in need. Respondents who expressed need and shared contact information were contacted and connected with community resources. The PTSA helped create a bridge between those who needed assistance and the community resources that could help.
  • North Creek High School PTSA has partnered with North Creek High School to form a NCHS Family Tech Support Network. The idea is to build a corps of Tech Support volunteers to help NCHS students and parents resolve their tech issues. It is an innovative approach to support families and help resolve tech issues more quickly while also strengthening their community.
Is your PTA doing something that makes you #PTAProud? Or have you seen or heard about PTA activities in Northshore that inspire or deserve recognition? We would love to hear about it! Please contact Melissa Kline or Cindy Jensen with your program, story, or event!
Council Kudos!
  • MANY THANKS to everyone who was able to join us for our online meetings last week, including our March 30th General Meeting and our Weekly Roundtable discussion. We so appreciate you joining us!
  • GRATITUDE to Jane Chiodo, Tricia Woods and Robin Zaback for their work developing and drafting Northshore Council PTSA's Electronic Voting Policy.
