Reflections Celebration Wrap-up
Congratulations to the 27 Northshore PTAs that participated in this year's Reflections program and to the artists who made it to Council-level judging!!!  It was fun celebrating you all at our open house on January 11, 2020 at Leota Middle School where we had more than 350 pieces on display.

Judging Results: There are 67 State Qualifiers (SQ) who will continue on to Washington State PTA for further judging.  There were also 54 pieces that received the honorable Judges Choice Award (JC).  Congrats to all the students who made it to the Council Level for judging. Partnering to Promote Anxiety Awareness

On January 16, Skyview Middle School PTSA and North Creek High School PTSA hosted a joint event to help build anxiety awareness in our community with a free screening of the film "Angst" followed by a moderated panel discussion. One great aspect of this event was their work to make it especially relevant to their school communities by inviting counseling staff from their respective schools to be on the panel. Over 70 people attended the event (despite the snow and ice!) and some great information was shared. Thank you, Skvyiew PTSA and North Creek PTSA for bringing this opportunity to our Northshore community. It definitely makes us #PTAProud!

Membership Growth Awards - 1/1/2020

Congratulations to our Northshore PTA/PTSAs that have earned WSPTA Membership Growth Awards so far in 2019-2020!!!
Keep up the amazing work and continue to build upon your success! And for those PTAs still working towards a growth award, know that it is not too late! Membership Growth Awards are cumulative throughout the year and can be earned all the way through June. For a bit of extra incentive, the 2020 WSPTA Membership Contest going on NOW through February 14th!
Is your PTA doing something that makes you #PTAProud? Or have you seen or heard about PTA activities in Northshore that inspire or deserve recognition? We would love to hear about it! Please contact Melissa Kline or Cindy Jensen with your program, story, or event!
Tip of the Week
Mid-Year Financial Review

If your PTA has not yet completed a mid-year financial review, it is not too late and it is well worth the effort! A mid-year review covers July-December, provides early feedback for the treasurer and members, exposes any potential problems, and means the year-end review will only cover six months versus twelve.

If you still need a committee, don’t worry! Your president just needs to appoint three or more members of your PTA who were non-signers on your bank account for the period being reviewed.

Information on financial reviews can be found on the WSPTA website in the password-protected Leadership Guides page. See both Managing Your Nonprofit PTA handbook and the Financial Review Checklist.
Council Kudos!
We have so much gratitude for those who supported our Council Reflections program this year and who helped us put on an amazing Reflections Celebration:
  • MANY THANKS to all of the awesome volunteers (students, community members, Council board members, and more!) who made this event possible-- signage, transport of displays, to construction, set-up, helping and greeting at the event, take-down, clean-up and more-- Northshore Council PTSA is SO GRATEFUL for your help!!!
  • GREAT GRATITUDE to Leota Middle School's administration and custodial staff for their support and for sharing their space with us for this event. It was a great venue!
  • THANK YOU to this year's Council-level Reflections judges, including Kathy Greisen, Michael McMinnes, Ashley Jensen, Karen Oie, Susan Jackson, Erin Young and Jill Enright, all of whom generously spent many hours during the busy holiday season to judge all of the pieces.
  • A BIG THANK YOU to the Arts of Kenmore for use of their display panels for the event.
  • A HUGE SHOUT OUT to Council Reflections Chair Cindy Jensen for organizing this year's Reflections program and to First VP Jane Chiodo for planning and organizing the celebration event.
