Our Reflections Open House Celebration has been MOVED to Leota Middle School's Cafeteria on Saturday, January 11th from 2:30pm - 5pm.  If you have an artist who needs a quieter viewing time, we welcome you and your family from 2pm - 2:30pm. All work that qualified for district-level judging in Northshore will be on display-- over 350 pieces! Prepare to be inspired.

We need many volunteers to help with setting up art panels and hanging art as well as clean-up after the event. High school and middle school students are welcome to volunteer and get community service hours! Please consider signing up to volunteer
Focus Day - 1/20
Focus Day is around the corner! Join us on Monday, January 20, 2020, when Washington State PTA (WSPTA) members travel to Olympia for a day full of engagement around our mission. We'll meet with legislators, tour the capitol, and demonstrate advocacy in action. The Focus Day program will begin at First Christian Church starting at 9:30 am with an introduction to the day and information focused on the 2020 legislative session. WSPTA has reserved the church until 3 pm so that members can eat lunch or use it as a base between meetings.

Want to go to Olympia, but don't want to drive yourself? Let Northshore Council do the driving! Fill out our online survey to let us know that you want to join us.
Find the event details, registration links, and more on our website!
Top Three Parenting Hacks to Help Your Teen Manage Emotions - 1/22
Families are invited to attend "Top Three Parenting Hacks to Help Your Teen Manage Emotions," a parenting workshop with Cher Anderton, MSW, LSWAIC, mental health therapist and coach. Join us on Wednesday, January 22nd, at Inglemoor High School Little Theater from 7-8:30pm. The workshop will cover the following topics:
  • 3 simple steps for emotion regulation and processing & boundary setting so your kids have healthy coping strategies for uncomfortable feelings like anxiety, depression, frustration, loneliness and more!
  • Understanding basic brain development.
  • How to decode adolescent behavior; behavior as communication and a skill.
Walk away with strategies you can use immediately for yourself and your teen. There will also be a Q&A session, so you can get your questions answered!

Speakers & Events Grants Update

Thank you to all who applied for grants this year. It is inspiring to go through these requests and see firsthand all of the hard work and dedication that our PTA/PTSA's put into their communities. At this time, we have exhausted our grant program funds so applications are closed. Our grant program will return next year! Be sure to check our Speakers and Events Grants page for updates on next years program.
Tip of the Week
Take your leadership skills to the next level: COUNCIL!

Northshore Council PTSA is here to support our PTA chapters, develop leadership, promote membership and give service to the local school community.

When you serve on the council you are a RESOURCE to local PTA leaders; a communication LINK between district, PTAs, and parents in the community, a MENTOR to future leaders and a VOICE for the children we serve.

COUNCIL = RESOURCE + LINK + MENTOR + VOICE = YOU

Apply today.

Spotted on Facebook: East Ridge Game Room
East Ridge PTA has a new program starting up soon designed to support students during recess time, offering an alternative to traditional outdoor recess. "Not all students flourish from conventional playground time.  The Game Room helps us remain inclusive to all students." It also works to grow student leaders and develop a peer support model. This PTA-run recess program is a wonderful example of how a PTA can partner with their school to build programming and supports that serve their students and make a positive school community impact. This is program that makes us #PTAProud!!! You can learn more about the Game Room on the East Ridge PTA website.
Is your PTA doing something that makes you #PTAProud? Or have you seen or heard about PTA activities in Northshore that inspire or deserve recognition? We would love to hear about it! Please contact Melissa Kline or Cindy Jensen with your program, story, or event!
Council Kudos!
