Dear Members and friends,

We send you this edition of our newsletter while remembering that these are very sad days for too many people in Spain and Germany.

News have arrived from the Commission that it is to review the competition from Gulf-based airlines. You might recall that the ARC published a study in 2013 called “Is this the end of the hub? The impact of Middle Eastern Air Carriers on European hubs” which covered the same subject.

EU funding of European airports has been under scrutiny from the European Courts of Auditors and the result was not impressive. However, we are pleased to read that the Berlin Brandenburg airport has received funds to complete its construction.

Also, the environmental impact of aviation is still a hot topic with China’s first biofuels flight completed and discussions that taxes are not an option to curb carbon emissions.

These stories and much more can be found in our newsletter this week.

We hope you will enjoy reading this edition, and please continue to inform us what is happening in YOUR airport region.

Yours, the ARC Secretariat
