|Dear Members and ARC friends,
September is almost over and the ARC is busy preparing for the Half-Yearly meeting and conference celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Vienna Mediation Centre on 15 and 16 October in Vienna.
This edition of the ARC newsletter contains articles on the Single European Sky – Romania and Hungary are cooperating to create a single airspace above the countries, the European Parliament has adopted a resolution on transport policies which includes the Single European Sky, and the ITF has published a discussion paper on liberalization of international civil aviation.
Also, our members have featured in the news with Dublin planning a 2nd runway, a new direct train link is linking Madrid airport with the Madrid central train station, Oslo airport has among the shortest waiting times at the security check and Budapest airport has signed a 15-year long lease with Wizz Air. Regional airports will receive funding from the UK government and EUROCONTROL reported the busiest ever daily air traffic in July.
Moreover, four of our members are organising / co-hosting conferences in the autumn: A Czech MEP is holding an intermodality conference in Prague “Seamless travel – fiction or reality: on the future of integrated ticketing in Europe” on 1 October and Budapest is organising a conference on airport region clusters on 2 October, Ile-de-France is involved in the Metropolis Initiative 2015-2017: Sustainable Airport Areas on 26 – 27 October and Frankfurt is hosting an active noise abatement conference on 12 – 13 November.
