The Beyond 6 Seconds Insider

Well, <<First Name>>, we've just about made it to the end of this long and challenging year! I am so thankful to have you as a subscriber and listener of the Beyond 6 Seconds podcast. During these times of immense change, this podcast has been a constant source of inspiration and creativity in my life. I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to interview nearly 30 guests this year about the careers they've built and obstacles they've overcome. I hope that their stories have entertained and inspired you as well!

This month, Beyond 6 Seconds is closing out the year with two episodes that reflect on 2020's challenges and opportunities. One episode features an author whose books are helping children cope during these times. Then, in this year's final episode, you'll get to hear me chat with a fellow podcaster about how podcasting has helped us get through 2020. Check out the links below to listen or watch these episodes!

In 2021, I'll be trying out some new things with this newsletter. Instead of long monthly summaries of multiple episodes, I'll be sending shorter newsletters every other week that provide early access to my latest episode -- so you'll get to hear each new episode before it gets released to the public! As always, if you have ideas about what you'd like to see in these newsletters, please reply to this email and let me know your thoughts.

I wish you Happy Holidays and a joyous New Year -- may it bring wonderful and hopeful things for all of us!

How can we help children make sense of the challenges of 2020, in a way that protects and nurtures their mental health? This is an issue that Jenny Delacruz has been helping people with this year. Jenny is a Haitian-American writer, a licensed counselor and the founder of Cobbs Creek Publishing. Her children's books help parents, guardians and teachers nurture mental health in kids from grades K-12. In this episode, Jenny talks about how her own children inspired her book topics and shares her advice on how to talk to kids about tough topics like COVID-19 in an age-appropriate way. Watch or listen to the full episode here.

On this Beyond 6 Seconds end of year episode for 2020, I talk with fellow podcaster Laura Joyce Davis, the host of the Shelter in Place podcast. We discuss our experiences with podcasting in 2020: how it has helped us cope with the challenges and isolation of this year, inspired our creativity, and allowed us to make connections and share powerful stories. Watch or listen to our conversation here.
