Monsoon Asians & Pacific Islanders in Solidarity has been in the forefront in creating culturally-specific services for Asian Pacific Islander (API) survivors and victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Hieu Pham will describe the various API communities in Iowa as well as the challenges victims and survivors face in obtaining relief from abuse and the barriers to services. Participants will learn through case studies and discussion, and be provided strategies to assist API that are culturally sensitive and appropriate.

Iowa is among the nation’s leaders in its disproportionate incarceration of racial minorities. This discussion will examine several factors related to race in Iowa’s criminal justice system in an attempt to understand how we can improve these numbers.

Folks have asked us to do more in the greater Cedar Rapids area — and we’ve heard you! We have been directly engaging with folks in the area, learning what is important to you, and building relationships with more faith communities and organizations.

We’re excited to take it up a notch — on Thursday, October 24, we’re holding our first annual JUSTICE RISING fundraiser in Cedar Rapids with keynote speaker, Rabbi Jack Moline, president of the national Interfaith Alliance. The fundraiser will help support our future work in the Cedar Rapids area.

This film follows the personal search for truth and meaning undertaken by eight people from different parts of the world. Each one describes the journey to discovering that God has sent two Divine Manifestations for today, the Báb and Bahá’u’lláh, Who are revolutionizing human thought and behavior.
