Weekly Wellness Tip: A Reality Check
People often want to hear from their leaders when a major event happens, even when it is outside of the workplace. Leaders may not have all of the answers, but acknowledging major trauma and events lets people know that you see them. That said, I want to share a snippet from this week’s internal The Ladipo Group email - to share what's on our minds, and provide a talking point or 2 that would be helpful to your team at this time:
“[It has come to all of America’s attention something that was already known to residents of Glynn County, Georgia]: on February 23, 2020, another Black man was murdered. I know that I am tired and rageful of continuing to witness lynchings. This heaviness is on top of the weariness that many of us are already feeling these days. I don't have any words that will make this feel better.
Every day you use your talents to provide emotional support and tools to our community. Taking care of our own mental health is paramount now more than ever. Please do what you need to do to give yourself the emotional release and support that you need.
Here are a few more of my thoughts in this short video.
Take care of yourselves.
